Normally, I love black diner I’m from Mount Shasta, California and I have actually met and worked with the son Kris Manley at the Mount Shasta branch. I love coming to this restaurant because it reminds me of home.I came into this diner for dinner with my family and got the worst service I could ever Ask for. I think my server‘s name was Christina. Her name is on the receipt. Anyways, I could already tell by the way she took our drink order that she was not in a good mood at all. I ordered A Parmesan sourdough burger and I’ve had it before and it’s usually delicious. However, the bread was so hard. It was like a stale hard crouton and My first bite was not what I was expecting.. My 3 year old son wanted a bite and he couldn’t even bite it. Not only was I waiting 10 minutes for my ranch, but I had to wait 10 minutes for my server to come back. When she finally decided to check on us she didn’t ever bring the ranch I asked for and as I tried to explain what was wrong with my burger, she cut me off and told me with the rudest fastest tone that instead of me telling her what’s wrong, why don’t I just tell her what I want instead and the way she said it was so rude. I opted out for anything else and said I would just like to check so that I could leave. When it came time to pay and my husband was paying, she changed her tone and started being a totally different server I assume because it was time to pay and she wanted a tip. I understand having bad days and I have Worked as a waitress most of my life, and I have never treated a customer so rudely no matter how bad my day was. I never did anything to this server and I was polite the whole time. This was honestly the worst experience I ever had and I will never return to this restaurant again because of this server. She has totally ruined my black bear...
Read moreAlmost always get good service here. There is one server that is absolutely wonderful and I keep forgetting to ask for her name. My receipt says Derrick, lol pretty sure that is not her name. We ate here on Mothers Day as my mom loves to eat breakfast. Sadly, they really are quite terrible at properly cooking eggs at this location. Maybe 6? visits now of messing up the eggs, At Fairfield we never have a problem with eggs but their service there sucks, so we choose the better service and go here when possible. It's clear that the cooks that work there have not been classically trained because eggs are a taught skill. The corned beef was horrible, don't get it, so very dry it was nearly inedible. But the Prime Rib that my brother got was actually really yummy looking and he said it was really good. So we may try that sometime. I have tried to order poached eggs twice for avocado toast, have gotten them hard like a boiled egg & raw whites. I have tried ordering soft scramble and have raw egg, tried over easy and gotten overcooked yellow, lol. I could go on. So just be ready to send the eggs back & don't order eggs if your in a hurry. But this location has great service and friendly staff and it's fairly well maintained. Much cleaner than the Fairfield location. Another reason we go even though they can't cook eggs lol. They are always happy to have them remade. Again, great service. We love the broad selection of foods. Oh , dont get the pies. The crust is the...

It had been a little over five years since my last visit to Black Bear Diner in Vacaville. Back then, I remember it being an excellent breakfast spot — great food, consistent quality, and friendly service. So, I decided to give it another try recently for breakfast, this time with my grandbaby.
She ordered pancakes from the children’s menu, and those did not disappoint — fluffy, golden, and delicious. She absolutely loved them. Unfortunately, my own meal wasn’t as enjoyable. I ordered the Eggs Benedict, which is usually one of my favorites, but this time it fell short.
There was barely any hollandaise sauce on the dish, leaving the English muffin quite dry. I tried to cut into the poached egg hoping the yolk would add some richness, but it was cooked hard instead of runny. For me, the hallmark of a good Eggs Benedict is a creamy hollandaise and perfectly poached eggs — neither of which I got this time.
On a positive note, the hash browns were great — crispy and flavorful — and the service was just as friendly and attentive as I remembered. However, the quality of my entrée was disappointing enough that I probably won’t be returning anytime soon.
Rating: ⭐⭐☆☆☆ (2 out of 5) Great service, but the food quality didn’t match my past...
