I've been meaning to try this place for a long time. I'd heard about it through friends. Finally I took the wife out for a quiet breakfast at the Heritage House. First the place. Very old, comfortable, been around awhile feel. Not real big but you won't have to wait to be seated. If you have the time, there is a lot of history on this little corner in Vacaville. Next, the food. Come here hungry. I had the short stack of pancakes and they were giant. I almost made it through two thirds of the plate before I had to call uncle. My wife had a veggie omelette of some kind and again, a lot of food. The pancakes were really good and the omelette was good and fresh. I only had a sip of my wife's coffee but I agree with the other posts that it is really good coffee. The prices are about average for this area. They give a military discount, so that also helps. The reason for only 4 stars is that, like other posts have stated, the service is lacking. There was one waitress busting her buns to get to everyone and run the register. It's not that she did poorly, just that there should have at least been one other to help. While we were here we did hear that the ownership will be changing early this spring. Not sure what that means for the food or ambience but time will tell I guess. As of now, I will definitely come back here to try more of their food.

Overview: A delightful restaurant with a warm atmosphere and attentive staff. I ordered the California Omelette, which was flavorful, and enjoyed their coffee with free refills. Pros: Ample parking available nearby Extensive menu with a variety of options Healthy choices included Free coffee refills Reasonable prices Spotlessly clean restrooms Cons: Parking is limited to 2 hours, requiring a move of the car The interior is somewhat small, which may be uncomfortable for those with claustrophobia Details: I visited for brunch with a friend I hadn’t seen in a year. Our waiter was friendly and patient, giving us ample time to decide on our meals. He frequently checked in, ensuring my coffee was always topped up. Despite needing to move my car twice, we felt relaxed and unhurried as we caught up over delicious food. Conclusion: I would definitely return for the California Omelette and the inviting atmosphere. Highly recommended for a laid-back brunch!

Heritage House Café is literally Our Very favorite place in Vacaville. Shavon and her team make us feel like we are right at home.. It’s the coolest place in town where everyone in the city connects over a great meal. You don’t feel disconnected from anybody and when you leave you feel all warm inside and you say goodbye to the entire restaurant Customers and staff because You feel that you just shared something special with them. It was at Heritage House Café, that we met and prayed over our idea to start our business together. We Celebrate every moment And milestone in our business here. So, without question, when our family came to visit from Florida they Just had to go to the famed Heritage House café, that we’ve spoken, so lovingly about over the years

So the wife and daughter went today Friday @ around 10:30 am. The place was full i counted 53 people. Had about a 20 min wait. A gathering of hungry diners began to build and since it was about 40 degrees outside it began to get quite tight in the little area just inside the doorway. Getting close to the end of our wait the server requested that we wait outside and while everyone else that came in behind us went out we did not. My wife suggested we do as well but since we were already standing fo 20 minutes a said absolutely not. We were seated about 5 minutes later. I noticed they had only ONE server and she was very busy to say the least. There was another woman behind the counter but she seemed occupied with counter patrons and the tablet that they enter the sales and collect payments with so I'm thinking they should get at least one more highly trained server to keep the wait down. Now my wife and i both orderd the California omelet with rosemary garlic potatoes for me and grits for her with a side of sausage patty my daughter had a BLT with fries the food was fantastic and well portioned the English muffins were perfect and while my daughter thought the bacon was a bit too long under the heat lamps the sandwich was good and her fruits were perfect and hot. The only lacklustre item was the sausage, it was good but in my opinion could use a bit more flavor but it was cooked perfect. The lemonade my daughter ordered didn't show up but we weren't charged, and no coffee refills or even a warm up was offered (we think that's because our server was busy handling the whole place). So would we eat there again? Yes the food was great but they really need more servers and a bit more attention to detail like checking on the guests at least once for coffee warm ups, extra napkins, and just to make sure we were happy with everything. Priced average. Oh and they should consider removing the "reserved" table at the entrance and put in a seating area for waiting and maybe a couple of propane overhead heaters if guests are going to have to wait outside in the cold. I would have given only 3 stars but the food...

Walked into this establishment with my beautiful kids, feeling like we weren't welcomed. Didn't know we were being served by the owner until the end. Her other workers had better customer service skills than she did. I asked for her opinion on 2 different meals as it was our first time visiting there. She suggested the sweet potato hash, and it came oily and really spicy. I asked her to switch the order for something else. She got mad saying it cost her money to make the food and all. I just needed her to either remake it or ask me for something else. She didn't care. Like she didn't care about us being there. We were seated before 2 other families, and she skipped us and took the other tables' orders before us. I was not happy but kept my mouth shut. Went to pay for our food, I asked her to remove the food cause I didn't eat it. She says, "Well, now we are going to have a problem." I said," Excuse me, are you threatening me? What problem do we have? I asked for the manager, and that's when I was told she was the owner. I was done. I said I won't be coming back here... She clearly has a temper and throwing one in her restaurant. All because of $14...shame. She said she would appreciate it if I didn't come back. I see how certain people are treated at these small places... what stopped her from removing the item? I was going to tip you anyway. The gesture of taking the item away and apologizing for the amount of spice in the food and the oil your chef made could save you a whole drama of $14. Being kind and good customer service goes a long way. You don't pick and choose whom you're nice to. You never know where you meet them tomorrow! Good luck with...

What just happened? I really want to like this place since we live within walking distance. We came in on Labor Day and even though they were busy,we were seated quickly. Our food came out pretty quick as well and it didn’t take too long to figure out why. I ordered chicken fried steak, rosemary potatoes 2 eggs over easy and pancakes. The chicken “fried” steak had to be pre-frozen and probably microwaved because it came warm with mushy breading and the steak was like rubber. The rosemary potatoes were cold and mushy and were most likely from the night before. The pancakes came out lightly cooked and had runny batter in the middle. The eggs were perfect. My wife’s pancakes were a little more cooked but still raw in the middle. Rosemary potatoes were like mine. Her bacon was pretty good. My wife pointed out how awesome the food looked at the next table and I agreed. She said a woman had recently went to the kitchen and started cooking. I asked the server who the lady is who is cooking and she said “Rachel”. Well let me tell you Rachel didn’t cook our food. What a disappointment and waste of 29$.

Yes I could have complained to the server but it may never have got back to the manager or owner. I’m hoping they tighten things up and I’m going to try them again but only if Rachel is cooking. And NO I don’t know who Rachel is and she didn’t ask me to post this. I just realized I will have to call and ask who’s cooking and that’s just awkward. I hope they just read this and fix it.I’ll give them another chance and...
