Good food, but good chance of getting COVID! The following is a message I sent to the restaurant on 7/4/20 after our experience dining in their restaurant the night before. We went to dine in your restaurant last night. It was our first time eating out at your restaurant since you’ve reopened the dining area and to say the least it was nerve wracking. I’m writing personally because I come from a huge family of small business owners, and I know how one bad review can hurt a place. I don’t want you to be hurt by my message, but to find ways to improve. When we arrived, the first thing we noticed was that our table was definitely not six feet from another table. It was closer to three feet judging by the 12” tiles on the wall. As we sat and looked at our menu, my husband could see into the kitchen and noticed two cooks not wearing masks. I realize they’re not in direct contact with customers, but they are with our food. We noticed what appeared to be a manager walking around. I watched him pull his mask off, cough into his elbow and put his mask back on, touching the front of his mask. This person did not go to the bathroom to wash their hands, nor did they put hand sanitizer on. My husband then watched this same individual walk to the kitchen, pull his mask off to talk to the cooks, wipe his nose with his hand, then proceed to touch something near the kitchen, and AGAIN not wash his hands! We love this restaurant, and our server was great. She was taking extra precautions, but our food was brought out to us by individuals wearing masks beneath their noses. Believe me, I get that masks are uncomfortable, and it probably sucks to be in them for an entire shift. However, we probably won’t be dining with you again for a very long time, which sucks because we love the food and usually the service.
This is the response that I got back from the restaurant. We are sorry to hear that. We wish you and your family continued success and for us too. -Nate, GM

Read moreIn reflecting on our dining experience, I must commend the exceptional service provided by our waitress. From promptly seating us to offering complimentary chips and salsa, she truly exemplified professionalism. However, regrettably, this is where the positives ceased.
The chips lacked even a hint of salt, and the salsa tasted disappointingly generic, akin to a mass-produced brand found on supermarket shelves. While I appreciate the familiarity of Pace Picante, it wasn't the elevated experience I anticipated. Our order of nachos and chilaquiles arrived swiftly, yet it became evident that haste did not equate to quality.
The nachos were served cold, with unmelted cheese and chilly chicken, rendering them nearly inedible. Similarly, the chilaquiles lacked any discernible flavor or spice, presenting a lackluster and uninspired rendition of the dish. Despite our initial optimism, it became apparent that our jest about vibrant Mexican eateries and their flavorful offerings would be hauntingly accurate.
Disheartened by the dismal fare before us, we made the difficult decision to forego salvaging the meal. The waitress, while gracious, couldn't conceal the disappointment reflected in her expression as we declined water refills and to-go boxes.
What was presented as Mexican cuisine fell far short of expectations. The absence of authentic flavors and the subpar execution left much to be desired. As I departed, passing by an El Pollo Loco, I couldn't help but lament the missed opportunity for a "more satisfying dining...
Read moreWe recently moved to the Fairfield area, we were craving some Mexican food and we came across Los Reyes, it had good reviews so came out on a Friday night. When we got there there's was a wait, we kinda expected it. We finally got our table, chips amd salsa were served right away. The chips were okay but the salsa didn't really taste like anything, we didn't eat them, usually my youngest daughter and I go through them quickly. I ordered the shrimp cocktail and the wings, my wife ordered the chorizo and mushroom melt, the girls ordered the quesabirrias. The flavor just wasn't there, the shrimp cocktail tasted like clamato with a ton of tomato and onions, they charge like $15 for it and you get like 4 shrimp, definitely not worth the price. The chorizo melt had 2 small pieces of chorizo and it was way too greasy, my wife couldn't even eat it. The wings were okay, the only thing that was tasty was the birria. This is not authentic Mexican by any means, I've worked in both authentic Mexican and not authentic restaurants in the past, and Los Reyes is the latter. I guess this could be good place to go hangout on a weekend and have drinks and appetizers, but that would be the only reason we...
