I was very excited about this place after being told how wonderful the food was. My friends and I went downstairs to the Speakeasy with the dueling pianos. Note: A $10/person payment is requires when making the reservation. The decor was a bit plain (I had hoped for cozy lounge chairs) & a lot smaller than I had hoped with even less space for dancing. The tables were squeezed together which made it hard to walk around comfortably. We ordered the Tiger Shrimp and Calamari which were excellent! There was a full bar too and the bartenders were personable and gracious. I was surprised to be told a glass that was only 1/3 filled with house red wine was $15. The man and woman playing the pianos were very talented which made me want to stay longer, but....the volume was extremely loud for the small space. Unfortunately I stayed too long, about an hour, and by the time I left, my ears hurt. We went upstairs to the restaurant and decided, when we come back (the food, music and staff, especially Anna, made it worth tryng again) it will be a lot more comfortable to sit in the restaurant upstairs where the pianos can easily be heard. Last note: food in the Speakeasy can only be ordered and paid for via a QR code on the table and a credit...
Read moreThis place is such a hoot! I am huge fan of dueling pianos, and I am stoked that we have one in our very own Vacaville. No more trips to the bay for a fun night out! We have been there a handful of times now (including their mega NYE bash) and this place has kept up its promise of providing fabulous entertainment every single time! There are several players on their roster, and they are all SO talented! Not only can they sing pretty much any song from any era you can think of, they are so funny. They make you laugh, sing along and get you dancing to the beat of your favorite tunes. If you are looking to celebrate something special (they do some fun call-downs), just kick it with your girls, or have a fun date night, Dueling pianos at Mäksē would be the place to be. We did reserve our spots ahead of time, as their weekend shows are popular and get sold out fast. Thanks Mäksē owners for bringing dueling pianos to our area, and THANK YOU piano men (and ladies) for sharing your awesome...
Read moreI really wanted to love this place however the employees conspired to give me the opposite reaction. The hot food came out cold. The piano music was unrecognizable. And the service was horrendous and unresponsive Specifically. We ordered the shrimp appetizer. The flavor was good but the hot food would have been amazing had it been served hot. It came out cold as if the food had been cooked long before our order was taken. The music played by the duet and the drummer for the most part were not popular due to the constant pandering of the male pianist. He tried in vain to extort money from the crowd and then proceeded to play music that no one sang along. He should have done a better job of reading the room. I stood at the bar for 2 minutes waiting for a drink. The bartender and waiter ignored me the entire time. Hopefully they work out the flaws because the idea of having a great night club option so close to home...
