Macaluso's Roadhouse — Restaurant in Vadnais Heights

Stopped in to have a drink and order a pizza for lunch. The first red flag should have been the fact there was NO wait staff, you needed to either go to the bar or wait for the bar tender to come to your table. Even though there was another gal there that seemed to work there.... Just not sure what her role was??? Since the table top had a holder that said they had homemade bloody mary mix we decided to try a bloody. They were by far THE WORST I've ever had, just totally blah, no flavor, watered down. We had to add Tabasco, salt & pepper to even give it flavor. Then the pizza came out.... Burned and the "cook" told us if it was too over cooked for us to let them know and they would make another one. If you knew it was burnt...why would you even bring it out to the table??? So there we sat with flavorless drinks, and waited for a 2nd pizza. At least that one was cooked properly and actually tasted good. Granted we got 1/2 off on the pizza, but for a place that I've heard was good and had good food, they dropped the ball this time. But hey, at least we won on pull tabs so still came out WAY ahead. Just won't go back...

Updated Review Second time to this place and very disappointed. Had to track down server several times. Realize it was busy but others were getting orders in who were there way after us. Food took extremely long time and server never acknowledged it.

Lastly, two of the four of us had digestive issues the next day. Definitely from the red sauce. Likely not kept hot enough during cooking or left out without refrigeration. Needless to say we will be waiting a long while to stop here again...if ever.

Original Review Have driven past their sign off I-35 my entire life... finally stopped in. It is definitely in the "dive bar" category but was clean and the staff were friendly despite being very, very busy. A little loud with a few of the "regulars" but it was just after a Vikings game, so who can blame them? Italian food, including pizza. Had deep dish and it was tasty. Drinks were also well done, and I'm picky about my Long Islands! Friends had dago's and they were also very good. We will definitely add Macaluso's to our list of...

Pizza was delicious! However, we were a party of four and ordered two pizzas. After one hour, one pizza came out which was incorrect and our waitstaff/bartender said they would be putting in the order for the correct pizza and our second pizza would be out shortly. The second pizza came out and it was amazing however the pizza that was supposed to be coming out shortly, after 30 minutes did not come. When I tried to talk with the bartender/waiter about the issues, he said nothing he could do about it he doesn’t do the hiring or the firing. When I asked him to get somebody who does to discuss our issues, he told us to leave and not to ever come back. Which we won’t. So sad we really liked it there. But that type of treatment is unacceptable. I thought I was being empathetic to their short staff issues but apparently, the bartender did not agree, and told me and my party to get out and never come back. To be fair to the management , I should also add, that we have been there multiple times before...
