Ive gone here a lot over the years and never had a bad experience. But I walked in today, it was completely dead, and the blonde girl at the counter just stared at me, no greeting, and im the one who said hello and I was then met with a "are you trying to place a to go order" in such a rude tone. She was literally doing nothing. She leans to the guy, either a host or manager and says "1 for outside" and he then grabs a menu and takes me to a seat, never saying hello, not a word, never looked me in the eye the entire time. Not even when I said "thank you" after being sat. The server then rushes over to give me water, ignored my hello, and rushed off before I could say or order anything. I sat there for at least 4-5 minutes before walking inside, with that same blonde and a brunette doing absolutely nothing but talking at the counter and was looking around. The blonde seemed irritated she had to stop the gossip and She finally says "can I help you find something" in another rude tone and I just said "no ill be going somewhere else" Ive worked as a server/bartender for over 15 years and i know good service, and this was so far below that I was shocked in comparison to my other visits there when it actually was crazy busy. Today I got some really tough news. I needed to look at some flowers, enjoy some food, and try not to let the news overcome me. Well thanks to those two girls and two guys, it did overcome me and I had to leave. Those four employees had the opportunity to be a positive thing on the worst day of my life, and I would have tipped A LOT for some simple KINDNESS to make a traumatic day a little less dark. It was not busy, they were doing absolutely nothing... not even sidework, and there was no reason for me to be treated that way, mostly the attitude of the blonde and being ignored by the host and the server. I wish servers and bartenders remembered that you have no idea what someone is going through. Some of us, are in so much pain dying at 33 right in front of your face with nothing anybody can do to help. Some of us are dealing with trauma you couldn't even dream up if you tried on top of dying. We live in a cruel, unkind, and selfish world. You never know when your rudeness and lack of kindness is going to push someone who is already dealing with so much over the edge. So maybe let's be kind to everyone, even if it means we have to say "hello how are you today?... how can I help you?" (which I know was asking a lot) instead of "are you trying to make a to go order". The entire experience made me lose a little more hope in humanity. I hope they are trained by management...
Read moreWe came for dinner one night and breakfast one morning during our stay. Dinner service was not good. There were only a couple people in the entire restaurant and we spent most of the night tracking down our waiter. The food wasn’t that great, but the tater tot app was unique and okay. The desserts were all over cooked and not good. The kitchen staff had a radio on very loud and it was really annoying to hear both that and the restaurant music clashing with each other. The manager was aware of this since she stopped by our table to check on us and there is no way she didn’t hear it. At breakfast, service was much quicker, after the initial long wait just to order drinks. We came on the end of a rush and the restaurant was starting to clear out. The waiter was hustling but not paying attention to what we were saying. For example “can we get a refill on this drink and” ... but he runs off to get the drink not making sure if we were done talking. My husband liked the biscuits and gravy. My son and daughter did not like the pancakes or French toast. My daughter did enjoy her side of hash browns which looked appetizing and not burnt like mine. I got the meal with a little of everything and it was all either over or undercooked. Burnt toast, burnt hash browns, overcooked French toast. Barely cooked eggs with a ton of raw white (think sunny side up) when asked for medium cook and undercooked rubbery bacon. I also had a mimosa and it was warm and did not have any of the promised tropical flavor. Also saw a server sneeze a huge sneeze while delivering food and still serve it to customers 🤢at minimum he should have gotten them new food and definitely should have sanitized the empty table he turned his head toward. If that had been my food I would have walked out. Overall it was overpriced for what you get and left a lot...
Read moreI recently had a fantastic lunch experience at Westside Cafe in Vail, Colorado. We kicked off our meal with their New $12 Soft & warm Bavarian pretzel, which came with a side of honey mustard and beer cheese sauce. Let me tell you, those dips were out of this world! The pretzel was warm, soft, and just what we needed to start our meal on the right note.
For our main course, we decided to share the $19 American Cheeseburger, which was a great decision. The burger was a masterpiece, with American cheese, bacon, house aioli, lettuce, tomato, and pickles, all served on a toasted brioche bun. It was cooked to perfection, and they were kind enough to split it evenly between my wife and me. The delicious fries that accompanied it were the cherry on top.
The only thing that made it a bit challenging to fully appreciate the ambiance was that we visited during lunchtime when the place was rather empty, and it seemed like they were preparing for dinner service. Nevertheless, this didn't dampen our enjoyment, and we had a delightful experience. We would definitely return if we were in the area, perhaps during a busier time to get the full vibe of the restaurant.
Lastly, I have to mention that the staff was professional and attentive, even if they appeared a bit straight-faced. They didn't give us any reason to complain, and their service was top-notch. Overall, Westside Cafe left a positive impression on us, and I'd highly recommend it for a satisfying...
