I don't eat out often, so every time I do it's a treat for me. I ordered the Philly cheesesteak on Rosemary Parmesan bread online for pickup around 4:30 in the afternoon. On the online order screen, it asks you who the sandwich is for, so I put Randy which is what I like to be called as my full name is Randolph but don't let people outside my close friends and family and definitely no one younger than me to be calling me that. Upon arriving to pick up my order and just as a side note the pickup area in this place is different depending on who's working it's either the Shelf leading towards the bathroom I think or at the register. So, I approached the register, and the young guy back there looks up at me and says pick up I say yeah him and another girl then say what's the name I say Randy. They look back I see the bag with my full name on it and so the girl at the slicer then asked is it for Randolph I say yes, so the girl behind the register then asked what it is and the girl at the slicer tells her it's just one sandwich it's already paid for you can just give it to him so she does. As I'm walking out the same guy who asked me if it was for pickup then loudly says as I'm leaving well then why did he put Rudolph on it to which I didn't respond because I was on break from work and going back to work to eat my dinner and didn't have time to explain short names and nicknames to him. I also didn't have time to explain the fact that on your website it asks who the sandwich is for and that's where I entered the name Randy. Then to top it all off I get back to work and the sandwich is on White Bread not the Rosemary parmesan on which I ordered it, and no one made any indication of that at the store. So maybe train your staff on how the online ordering system works so that they are not ignorantly and incorrectly commenting about someone's name.
UDATE: I received a response from the manager and will include the google definition of ignorance for your enjoyment. Ignorance is a lack of knowledge or understanding.
Hello Mr. Mondsier. This is Nadjah Porter the General Manager of the Valdosta location. I am aware of this situation because I was present during the interaction. I was the one who asked you if it was for Randolph. The young lady who passed you the bag was here training on her first day and she was unaware if you had to pay or not. So, I let her know that your order was done and all she had to do was hand it off. As far as the pickup location varying, your order was done just before you arrived due to a rush that we had prior. As well as the new young lady I was training had yet to bring your order over to the pickup rack location, so you arrived just in time before it was sent over. And the young man who made a comment about your name was confused because he heard Randy, but I handed over an order labeled "Randolph". We were not being ignorant about your name, we did not make your sandwich so we did not see the "Randy" that was on the kitchen ticket. Only your account name which is Randolph. I had told him that you told me Randy which I assumed was short for Randolph.
As far as your bread being incorrect, I apologize about the failure to let you know about us being out of Rosemary parm due to the rush that just came through before you arrived. If you would like to revisit our restaurant, I can give you a remake, free of charge. I hope this clarifies the situation. Have a...
Read moreI literally thanked the heavens when I saw this place under construction. Valdosta has been lacking in the sub department. Subway (doesn't count as a sub place), Blimpie (ok) Publix (good affordable subs),and Jimmy Johns are your options.
As a chain shop , Jersey Mikes get's as close as you can get to an authentic Italian style sandwich that you would find in other areas with mom and pop setups. The bread is so fresh and soft. The meat and cheese is cut fresh in front of your face. Not sitting in some plastic bin with portions separated by wax paper.
The prices are a bit high, especially compared to subway, but you are getting a way bigger sandwich, and like I said before, subway hardly counts as an authentic hoagie experience.
They have a good number of cold sub options and it looks like they recently expanded their hot sub menu as well.
For a cold sub, I usually go with the Original Italian #13 and get it Mike's Way (lettuce tomato onion oil and vinegar and spices) plus mayo and some peppers. For the Hot sub I love the chipotle cheese steak.
The staff is extremely courteous and despite just opening, they are handling themselves really well under the pressure of lunch time rush hour.
One thing I recommend is telling them light on the oil and vinegar. Because of the staff's inexperience. they tend to go a bit slow and careful when pouring the juices. This could lead to an overly wet sandwich and soggy bread by the time you...
Read moreOkay, here is how I see it; The bread is better than any bread I have tasted for a sub, the Philly is PACKED with meat, the service is 2016....friendly, funny, interactive. I bought this for the first time last week and I'm telling you this is the PLACE to go. I would compare it like this.....you would like a chicken sandwich so you go to the arches...you get what you pay for, you go to Chick fil a and you pay more but you are HAPPY with your meal and your experience. This would sum up Jersey vs others. I'm in NO WAY affiliated with this place, just a customer. After consuming my meal I called the store to say thanks and they gave me the manager's cell (Brynn I believe). I called her and she was pleasant and thankful, even though she was at home and it was past 9pm. Try that at the arch or any other place in Valdosta. Thanks Jersey Mike's for making a sub that is absolutely worth the price.......suggestion, play some cool 80's music in the store, not the more modern stuff that you can't understand (and YES, I listen to ALL music on the way to work from A-Z and can sing the words to downtown or drop it like it's hot so I'm not "that guy from the 80's who's a hater"......just enjoy a friendly smile and a GREAT sub. If you disagree then please bash me for leaving such a...
