2 months ago I left a review of this place. It was a 5 star review I'll leave in place at the end to make my point. There's a trend in this town. I say it's "Valdostardized". When a great restaurant is taken from great to gross in a short time, due tothe poor work ethics and dismal attitudes of the people who work in that in this town. About 3 weeks ago we went to Pedro's. One of many trips. I had the Burrito Loco, my wife had the flautas. We both had churros for desert. The burrito was good. Nearly filled the plate, guacamole salad on the side, The menu says it comes "with" that. My wife's flautas were decent...and the churros were just amazing. Light, fluffy, golden brown, served with fresh whipped cream and ice cream in the center of the plate. That was then. This is now.
Tonight, we order the exact same thing. They left the guacamole salad off the burrito. I questioned it, and was told "No, it's "IN" the burrito". It wasn't. There was no guacamole IN it. There was no tomato IN it. There was no lettuce IN it. There was no sour cream IN it. Furthermore, the shrimp in it (all three of the shrimp in it) were cold..and rubbery, the chicken was chewy, and I could taste some semblance of steak but couldn't actually see it. And it was wrapped in a stale tortilla and smothered with cold, congealed cheese dip. The plate was heated to about 8000 degrees, so the bottom of the burrito and the cheese on the plate was hot, but that was about it. But the most egregious thing...the burrito was, quite literally, half the size of what it was on the prior visit. The "Charro" beans it was served with were basically pinto beans and two pieces of chewy pork fat passing for bacon. Also, it was room temperature. My wife's flautas were mediocre at best....chewy, soggy, lukewarm. The whole meal seemed like it was just tossed together and left under a half-functional warmer for an hour. The "Sweet Tea" tasted like unsweet tea, and the unsweet tea tasted like water. Barely any taste at all.
So, we ordered the churros. How could that be wrong. It was. Again, last visit, Light, fluffy, golden brown, served with fresh whipped cream and ice cream in the center of the plate. This time...they were dark brown (the color of chocolate) , about half the size of the prior visit, drowned in chocolate syrup and had no ice cream or whipped cream with them. Not even close. They either changed it...or they over fried it and left off the ice cream and whipped cream. I couldn't tell which. The server was more than friendly, admittedly she was new, but I take real issue with the other lady working...who was unaware we'd been there multiple times, and tried to lie to us and pass it off as "that's how it always is" when I raised the issue. EVEN WHEN WE SHOWED THEM PICTURES OF THE CHURROS WE GOT THERE SEVERAL WEEKS AGO. That's brazen....and 100% unacceptable to me. I'd say I'm mad...I spent 40 bucks on a meal that simply wasn't worth it. But I can't even be mad....because it was prophetically written into the history of the business before they ever opened. We knew it wouldn't last. It didn't. Not even mad....just didn't think I'd be THIS disappointed....this fast.
Original Review Below.
It's legit. I'm not sure what the translations of "el toreo" or "coyocan" mean in English anywhere else in the world, but in valdosta they translate to "eat at pedros"! Our table had the "c" combination, the Loco nachos, cheese dip, and two soft drinks... under 40 dollars before tip. Place is clean... service is fast.. staff is friendly, food is delicious. And those who live here who think (as I did) that this location is doomed from the start because of all the failed places it "used" to be? This breaks that chain. Whoever did this put some serious cash up to make this place so far from mongo's and all those other places that used to be here. Try it. Seriously. This is a welcome change that...
Read moreLONG REVIEW but hopefully it’ll spark some changes. Where do I beginnn? Well I’d first like to say I had high hopes & just KNEW this was going to be my new favorite spot. Tacos. Tequila. Perfect right? Wrong.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS: 2.5/5 Nice decor. There were a lot of people waiting to be seated in the front. I assumed they must’ve had happy hour or something going on by how packed it was. Again WRONG. The wait time alone was 40 minutes so no available seating inside I went back to my car. Everything just started off very unorganized overall which carried throughout the night. When my friend & I were finally seated our waitress came to take our order & get drinks. We barely had anytime to look over the menu & there was a clear language barrier. After she brought our waters she went missing & never returned. We asked multiple people where our waitress was by describing her the best way we could since she didn’t provide her name. We were brought over chips, salsa, and some kind of bean dip. Salsa could have been spicier, it was missing something. Bean dip wasn’t that warm. Finally Emmy stepped up as our waitress, she was nice & courteous. She tried her best it help us & handle her other tables.
DRINKS: 4/5 The drinks were good, I wouldn’t recommend any cocktails, my friend had one but the drink had more ice than anything. Then I’m not sure if this woman was another waiter or manager she came by asking if we were okay. My friend asked her for a margarita, the woman asked if she wanted it frozen/iced or salt/sugar. & NEVER came back to bring the drink or check if it was sent over. When we caught Emmy again she was able to get the drink over promptly. My frozen margarita was great & hers was too.
FOOD: 2.5/5 I ordered shrimp fajitas & she got a quesadilla. I was hungry at the time lol so I didn’t get pictures. I was very disappointed about my meal. Portions are small, not many vegetables, salad served on a hot plate when I asked for it to be on the side, barely a scoop of guac. Her quesadilla was very basic, no sauce, no limes, no lettuce. She said it was okay.
OVERALL: 2.5/5 I’m not sure if the crew was just off that night or what. They need a better system for getting customers placed/seated, also who is assigned to what table, & a better ticketing system for what tables receive which food. (Our food was almost delivered to the wrong table & they brought others food to our table.) Also the bathroom was dirty & not stocked. No one seems to know fully what’s going on. I hope they fix things soon. If you’ve lived in Valdosta for a while you know many businesses don’t stay open long in that...
Read moreThe server was great and I felt bad for him. This was the worst mexican food I have ever eaten. Before I ordered my meal, I told the server that I did not want red sauce on my enchiladas, but that I wanted cheese sauce on it instead. When another person brought me my meal, it had red sauce on it and no cheese sauce. I scraped the red sauce off and ate a few bites. The server came back to check and I reminded him that I had wanted the enchilada with cheese sauce on it, and not red sauce. He then advised he could bring me some queso sauce, but that they would have to charge me for it. I reminded him that I had made it clear to him when I ordered the meal that I wanted cheese sauce on it and NOT red sauce. Had the cheese sauce been more at the time I ordered, I would have cared less. I voiced my dissatisfaction to the manager or whoever she was when I was leaving, and she was completely and utterly tone deaf to my concerns. She had zero customer service skills. She could have literally cared less, which was really surprising to me, because there were only like 4 other customers in the entire restaurant when I was there at around 7:30pm. Also, the rice was barely lukewarm, not its normal color, and it didn't taste good. Lastly, about two months ago, with no solicitation from me, whatsoever, a former employee of this restaurant told me that one reason she left was because of concerns she had about their cleanliness when preparing foods. I will literally never go back to this restaurant or ever spend one more penny, there... if I could give them ZERO...
