I had enjoyed making this spot part of my routine, for its location and special buttered croissants, until one of the ever-vigilant managers decided to get very catty with me as I was finishing my cup of Joe. It concerned my success at persuading the barista, who informed me of the rules already, to give me a "free refill," and I added a dollar tip for the trouble. Suddenly, she felt it was necessary to address the "difficulty" I was causing and get in my face about the silly rule as I was seated helplessly in a bar-stool attempting to choke down the rest of my cup hastily before fleeing the scene. How is it causing a problem for them if I pay five dollars for one good cup of coffee (Americano) and get unlimited tepid-tasting coffee refills, or pay four dollars for unlimited tepid-tasting coffee? Am I not paying more in this scenario? Or are you going to lecture the customer for breaking your precious rule instead of your employee? Will not be coming back even if they woke up and decided to welcome every polite, paying customer at all times like a normal...

Read moreNot sure .. does "French Style Bakery" mean ..'all burned baked goods'? It looked like every item for sale was baked at the same time on a very large sheet. Everything was evenly burned. While listed online as 'Drinking Chocolate' it looked to be Hersheys syrup mixed with frothy milk It was tasteless and plain (nice foam flourish). The only thing remotely chocolate about it was the colour. Beautiful building and great location near to me.... but vastly overpriced for burnt pastries and bland chocolate coloured drinks. Harry & David offer the best Hot Chocolate base out there. They are so clever.... they use real chocolate ground down. It melts into the hot milk for cupful that, unlike Butter and Folds version, is sweet and deeply chocolate. Wont go in again except to see if perhaps burning everything in the display was...
