This place changed it's menu after 30 years and the food is terrible now 👎👎. The pork carnitas was way overcooked and dry , the tamales were also overcooked and they don't have the same juicy pork smothered in chili Verde that they used to have. Also the masa was kinda gross and overcooked. Which I am devastated about the tamales because that's why I always came here for the last 30 plus years. Also the chimichanga was not the same delicious huge deep fried crispy burrito stuffed with tasty meet and beans and rice ECT. The chimichanga sucked honestly they ruined that as well. I asked if they changed ownership and they said no they just hired a new manager to run it for the owners. But it might as well be me owners because the food is totally different and honestly not worth the money. I've had better food in a gas station to be quite frank! The service was slow and they never checked on us, and our soda was all flat . This is not the Casa de Soria we all knew. I would take your family somewhere else there is plenty of other good food in Ventura. 2 thumbs down from me and my...
Read moreI don't know what's happened here. I've been going to Casa since I was a little kid but there's been a big turnover in employees and the food is so inconsistent now. It's really sad because it used to be a solid bet that an excellent dinner was in store... Now it's luck of the draw. I know that some longtime employees have left to start their own AMAZING restaurant a couple of miles away, but when they left it felt like the beginning of the end. I want to still enjoy and cherish this local legend of a restaurant, but man they're making it harder and harder. Service is still good to great, it's still REALLY LOUD AND HARD TO HEAR YOURSELF IN THE NEWER DINING ROOM, but the margaritas and food have become average to downright disappointing.
I'm not giving up on them yet, but we've crossed them off the "go-to Mexican restaurant" list months ago. We just go when we're feeling daring or just too lazy to consider anything else.
Come back Casa, we miss...
Read moreLouis, The food is good here but the prices have sky rocketed! The business will suffer and with the new additional mortgage you NEED business! It's not like Casa De Soria is so nicely decorated with tons of wait staff like Yolanda's. I have been in Ventura for 42 years and Casa De Soria rarely uses its revenue to decorate or clean the place up, almost never. I mean we all remember the seats in the booth where you'd sink in.
So CASA DE SORIA thanks their loyal customers by raising their prices so we can pay for the new expenses due to their expansion. We are the ones who have seen the cockroaches this little restaurant has always had issues with and we still returned because the food is good and most of us could afford it. Now we might as well frequent Yolanda's more because the prices are the same and the food is...
