In the summer of 2022 I had been standing in the front of Paddy's when an unruly customer began attacking zack the doorman. He had him on the ground and was reaching for a box cutter in his back pocket. I'm small but I jumped into the action as I grabbed this guy threw up in the air and then we both landed on the ground with my head hitting first. In the process The heel of my boot went into a hole in the drivewand as a result I tore my meniscus in about eight different . After a year of therapy and Using a cane and learning. I will never walk again without pain Or a cane. I have to ask myself would I ever do this for anybody again, No. Not once did the owner ever contact me to see if I was okay or even thank me for doing what I did for you his employee. Without a thought for my own life and safety I jumped into save this guy when nobody else would. It's been well over a year now, and I'll be crippled for the rest of my life, Not once Sense that moment have I ever heard from the owner thanking me for what I did. Maybe he was worried about being sued, Something I never would do especially since this was my choosing to do I didn't do this to sue And I never would this is not me, I did this because it needed to be done And nobody else would step up to do it Everyone just video taped this with their phone. Be that as it may Was Saving the This guy's employee Even worth worth a thank you to me ? Obviously not as I have never heard from this owner. After the incident, I still continued to patronize this facility.but still the owner never Thanked me personally For my quick action And that was my Visit to Paddy's It changed my life Forever. Read moreOne of the worst experiences I’ve ever had in a bar. The Bartender working the 8:40 pm shift on Thursday Dec 1st, goes by Weston, used completely unsubstantiated and unprofessional reasons to refuse service to a member of my party. One of them was the fact that the member in question was wearing glasses while his completely valid license showing he’s of age had no restrictions stating he needed to wear glasses which is a ridiculous reason to refuse service. Also instead of asking him to state his legal and official date of birth or any other detail of his I.D., he asked him what was his zodiac sign and because the party member hesitated, he took it as yet another admissible reason to refuse service. I highly doubt that that would be allowed in any professional setting as what if the person in question does not follow the zodiac and astrology signs. Also he technically stated that he was supposed to have kept the I.D. if he even suspected anything (which he absolutely did evidenced by him not serving the party member) but instead he let him keep it. This should completely put his training as a bartender into question and as a result of a poorly trained bartender, this one very laid back and respected establishment just lost two loyal regulars and 2 potentially new regulars. Security said he was apparently having a “bad night” which I personally don’t think is any excuse as his “bad night” just cost the bar valuable business. Not trying to knock this guy but Weston should really do better or should be talked into...
Read moreA Ventura Icon – More Than Just a Bar
I’ve been going to Paddy Bar and Lounge since 1997, and it’s always held a special place in my heart. Back then, it was more than just a bar — it was my happy place. A space to dance, unwind, socialize, and feel part of something real.
Some of my favorite memories are from the Sunday beer busts — all-you-can-drink beer, hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill, music in the background, and a crowd that felt like chosen family. They also held bear events that brought everyone together with so much positive energy and celebration.
Whether you were there to let loose on the dance floor or just chat and sip a drink, Paddy’s had that rare mix of warmth and freedom. Ventura has changed a lot over the years, but places like Paddy’s are what made it feel like home.
If you’re looking for a place with real community, good vibes, and a rich history, this is it.
Thank you, Paddy’s, for all the...
