The Galloping Hen — Restaurant in Ventura

This place had alot of good reviews so I went, so I was super hungry and excited but as I started to eat I wasn't satisfied to my liking it was more like I was talking a bit after bit to find out why this chicken fried steak plate was awful...I should of realized it wasn't good when I saw small balls in the gravy,it was so gross it automatically made my stomach upset and my daughter's had a look on her as if she was going to puke. I just as for the check and couldn't get out of there fast enough. They didn't even care enough to try to fix the problem instead asked me if I wanted a to go box,the nerve of those people. Monday and in the area for business. I was looking for breakfast for lunch and The Galloping Hen came up in my Google search. It wasn't crowded at 11am and the hostess was very friendly. The decor is quaint with a definite small town restaurant vibe. This isn't your corporate restaurant. Ordered within minutes and the food was brought out within 10 min. The eggs were hot and the bacon extra crispy like I asked. The pancakes were good but a little dense. I personally like my pancakes more on the airy side. They weren't bad and the best thing was they give you soft butter on the side. I would've liked my syrup warm but not a game changer either. My milk came cold and I believe it was a chilled glass. People seem to love it, hate it. The people who love it seem to not nitpick over the tiny stuff. I love the place. They are friendly, helpful, and always willing to try to make your experience the best they can. Everytime I have been there, even when they were busy, they showed that they appreciate my coming. I have never got sick from eating there, not have I ever smelled mold. I do not order very basic fare because I don't see a point to go out to eat if I can make it with ease.
