Banh-Mi Grill — Restaurant in Ventura

Well do you like Banh-Mi? If you do, you need to stop here sometime.

I've eaten Banh-mi everywhere from Mira Mesa and LA County, to NYC. They all vary (kind'a like a homemade sandwich), so some are good, and others not so much.

Anyway, I hit this place during lunch, and wow, it was a long wait. I suppose the fact it's busy, and cheap, and soooo darn good make that a natural outcome.

Place. Small strip mall location, kind'a hard to find with difficult parking. Inside, the restaurant is order only, with really no place to sit. So plan to take out.

Service. OK I guess. Like I said, crazy busy, one guy in fron taking orders. Very little room to sit while waiting on orders, almost left. But due to time constraints, I decided waiting was shorter than starting over.

Food. Hell yea. That was an incredible Bahn-mi. Many a Bahn-mi sandwich looses it at the bread. This sandwich was nice and crispy on the outside, soft and light on the inside--nice French style bread. I choose the grilled pork, damn, so tender and flavorful it's hard to describe. Good crispy fresh vegetables on the inside, Vietnamese style. It was a good size, and I was in the pleasure/flavor zone driving back to LA.

Bottom-line, would I eat there again? Hell yeah. Please can you...

I’m in HEAVEN PHO-EVER with this newly opened Banh-Mi Grill. Easy access in the strip center off of Thompson and Hartman (almost directly across from VONS).

Open M-T 10 to 3pm and Wednesday to Saturday 10 to 6pm. Can you say VIETNAMESE for breakfast AND lunch??? Yes I can!

Today I enjoyed shrimp spring rolls. Amazingly FULLY loaded with vermicelli noodles, mint, sprouts, Asian chives and big yummy shrimp. Served with a great tasting peanut dipping sauce. Oh so good!

The other positive was being greeted by the nicest man ever. Hung Le is the owner and has the biggest smile when saying hello.

The freshest ingredients, absolutely delicious recipes, outstanding customer service! I love everything about this great little local restaurant. I highly recommend you try the Lemongrass Beef Bahn Mi! Tender, flavorful beef, crisp veggies, wrapped up in a perfectly fresh baguette. Great value! Way more sandwich than I can eat by myself. I usually split one with my wife. You should definitely try their egg rolls, too. Man, those egg rolls are good!!! They take phone orders, so, yeah, you’re going to want to phone in your order and minimize your wait time. Come on over to the Bahn Mi Grill and get you one of these delicious sandwiches.
