Top This Chocolate — Restaurant in Ventura

My husband and I just visited Top This Chocolate for the first time and we can’t stop talking about it. What a unique, creative idea to offer customers the ability to design their own chocolate bars with delicious, fun toppings.

I’m a sugar addict rather than a big chocolate fan, so I went with the white chocolate and topped it with toffee and caramel bites on one half and candy corn on the other half, with sea salt and Halloween sprinkles on the whole thing. I had to work really hard to not eat the entire bar. (No joke!) It’s so creamy with just the right amount of sugar, not the overly sweet, feels-weird-in-your-mouth white chocolate. You can tell it’s premium when you bite into it, before you even taste it.

My husband is the chocolate freak in the fam and he went with the dark chocolate with coconut, hazelnuts, pistachio, dried cherries and sea salt. He would take a piece and put the bar away, and did this every few minutes until the whole bar was gone. As much as he loves chocolate, I’ve never seen him do this with any other kind of chocolate, premium or otherwise. He also doesn’t like white chocolate, but loved mine. Dark chocolate would be my last choice, but I took quite a few bites of his. It had the same creaminess and right amount of bitterness. So, so good!

Perhaps the most under appreciated part is that the owner/chocolatier cares enough to use non-GMO chocolate. I don’t know about you, but I prefer ingredients that aren’t going to alter my DNA or make more money for pHARMa companies like Bayer (who bought Monsanto).

We will definitely be going back to create chocolate bars for gifts for family and friends (and ourselves). We live in Santa Clarita and it’s definitely worth the drive. Don’t sleep on Top...

Owner followed us for 10 minutes recording us and creeping us out! She followed us to the parking lot and took pics of our license plate before we confronted her. She was SURE that she SAW VIDEO of my cousin stealing and wouldn't believe us even though we emptied all our pockets in front of her. We finally called her bluff on calling the cops and called them ourselves on her for harassment. (She quickly fled). Cops came and talked to her and she completely went back on her story saying she hadn't even seen the video.

Anyway, I don't recommend this place if you're brown and enjoy wearing a hoody on a chilly evening.

I wanted coffee. That's it. So I saw a sign on the door that said we have coffee! Little did I know that I was ab to have my mind and taste buds blown! Custom made chocolate bars with your choice of tons and tons of topping choices. Poured and baked right then and there. Pre made boxes and bars and all kinds of other neat chocolate like things! Shana, the owner, was amazing. Personable and knowledgeable. A true Chocologist! Highly HIGHLY recommend this novel candy store. One of a kind atm... something new is always exciting.
