I am visiting from Las Vegas, and generally go to Newport or Huntington Beach but decided to give Ventura a shot.
I ordered a crab Benedict not realizing it was rotten fish out of a can. So i sent it back. And I’m ok with that. I can slip a meal and it won’t kill me. I didn’t want to order anything else because after tasting the canned crab woth the egg that was not at all cooked, I completely lost my appetite.
But the part that I am not happy about the most, is the waitress here (julie) - who (I am a psychic medium- intuitive and read energy ) but this woman clearly did not like me, (don’t ask me why, I’m mot even from this town, and just came today to enjoy a change of scenery, woth an open heart and love in my vibration). She was so busy gossiping to her friends, that she didn’t offer me the services that any typical employee could offer as common customer service. . I felt discriminated against. And she never came to check on me about the food or to see if I wanted another drink. She just ignored me for over a half hour. I had to get a bus boy to help me. After the food was sent back and she saw that I wasn’t happy about that (and I generally don’t complain, unless something is intolerable)- she then got sassy with me. As if that was going to change how rotten the crab was from canned crab. Lol. Why would I eat that. I get fresher meat in vegas. And I would not have ordered it if I thought they were going to feed me canned garbage. The Bloody Mary was also one of the worst. Total cheap mary mix. As a former bartender, I know that I not only over paid, but I got garbage from the pre mix, instead of a nice drink that was made woth good ingredients and tender care. And it was made clear in both the taste and the energetic exchange in this environment .
Then she also never asked me if I wanted a drink again. So again I had to solicit the service of the sweet bus boy who was a good guy. The server, apparently was too snobby and low self worth to be able to provide me common courtesy, to see that customers are what make businesses thrive. And when you treat them bad, not only is it bad for business, but it’s also bad karma. I wish everyone love. But i can see she needs a lot of humble pie before love can live there. And until then, I won’t be returning to this place again. And I’ll be sure to help my large online following to know that this is not a place I recommend...
Read moreIncredibly disappointing experience. Brought my husband and family here to celebrate his birthday on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. My first clue should have been that there was no wait to get seated (whereas the popular spots were minimum 1 hr wait). We sat on the back patio and ordered within 15-20 minutes of being seated. The waiter brought our drinks out pretty quick, then…nothing. For over 30 minutes, we waited for even the cup of soup we ordered (I finally had to ask for it). Even then, it was at least 10 minutes before he brought it out. But while we were waiting, the neighboring table got up to leave and their big dog, which was sleeping under their table, did a big shake off that sent dog hair and dander flying onto our table and in to our drinks! Lady says, “Sorry!” and walks off like nothing has happened. We were beyond grossed out. Then, after almost an hour, our food arrived…cold. My poor teenager son, who eats 6 meals a day, was starving, and as he went to dive into his fish and chips the first thing he sees is a hair on the lemon. Ugh!! It just didn’t get any better. My husband, the birthday boy, had asked the waiter two times if the cioppino was good and he replied, twice, that it was excellent. Nope, it wasn’t. And my grilled prawns and scallops were over cooked and much smaller than I was expecting. For $27.00 you get three petite scallops and 6 standard size shrimp on a skewer plus a plate full of salad. I had asked for fries instead of rice, which they charged me extra to sub out, only to find some hidden rice under my salad, which means it was there until they remembered then scraped it off my plate, but not all the way. Now I’m worried that the fries, which the waiter swore were gluten-free, were not. Hoping my young daughter will not be sick tonight. Seriously, I cannot recommend this place at all. The clam chowder was delicious and that’s about it. We paid $150 for this truly awful experience because it wasn’t going to matter if we complained even one more time. No one cared. Edited about 6 hours later: my son started complaining of a stomach ache after we ate and is now throwing up like crazy. It just keeps getting better. I’m taking back the one star I gave them for the clam chowder. I’m so mad. This experience totally ruined my husband’s birthday and my son’s...

We sat inside and enjoyed the atmosphere and ordered poppers & fries as we sat down and we waited for someone to take our drink order. After 2 requests for a server we were able to order drinks after appetizers were delivered. It seemed odd thar a pub didn't ask about a beer order at the beginning.
Is was strange that the 1st server did not seem to want to take our order and we had to ask multiple people including asking for the manager/owner (who never came to our table even after I walked thru the place including the kitchen looking to speak with him).
Someone that wasn't assigned to our section finally took pity on us and we finally were able to place our order for food. It was 45 minutes after we finished the appetizer before this 2nd server asked us a 2nd time if the other server ever came by. I wish I would have asked her name because she & the buser were the only saving graces where service is concerned.
The mananger/owner (never said that is who he was) walked by once when we first sat down but NEVER returned even after specifically requesting him twice. If i wasn't there to meet someone; I would have walked out. He should have just talked to us especially since the place was less than 1/4 of capacity.(approx...
