I was shocked with my experience at Wood Ranch tonight. We got good reviews from Ventura County Medical Center and decided to go try it. We arrived and sat at the bar. I ordered drinks and then ordered my meal. I never once said the meal was to go. The bartender John took my order and I enjoyed my drinks. My two sisters were with me as well and they ordered. A little bit later they received their food and I was still waiting. When all of a sudden the gentleman comes up and says here is your order to go? Who goes to a restaurant to sit down and have a drink and expect to eat there and have their food brought out on a to go bag? I asked for the supervisor and Barbara was her name and came out and tried to make things better, but unfortunately my dinner was already ruined. I normally love to leave good reviews for good service, but this was clearly unacceptable. My point to all this is that not sure who made the order to go whether it was the bartender or the kitchen, but it also cost me my dinner and my business ever again. Out of all my years of eating out, this has never happened to me. Again, who goes to a restaurant and sits down and orders food and then have it brought out to you in a to go bag? Very bad service. Hopefully this helps the upper management get better And take care of their customers. 👎...
Read moreWood ranch is a nice place to eat with your family, friends, colleagues, etc.. Except yesterdays experience was the worst experience I've encountered there. Waiter was in rush the whole time, started with an hour of wait time from sitting to being attended by waiter. When she got to us she said you guys know what you guys eating.... I asked about the drinks?? She said we can do the whole thing at once, and I said sounds like a plan.. Food received was horrible, bread was weirdly shaped and hard, almost like the stuff you leave to the side because you know it looks weird. When food finally arrived, my sons fries were cold and tasted like fish, My combo tritip meal was bland and luke warm.. I tried letting the waiter know except they would disappear for 15 to 20 minutes at a time. And when she did come out she was trying to fix another groups meal (other groups order was lost). To make it worst she blamed everything else for the hiccups.. Whatever was going on upper management needed to step in and fix it. Oh and to top it off I never got drinks and was charged for them.. And when I asked about charge she tried arguing with me, and I said hey everything is okay we are just trying to pay for what we received not what we ordered. Since we didn't get a...
Read moreWood Ranch is, so far, the best I've eaten this trip. Looked busy, but there was no wait for seating, although the bar-height half booth required stepping up on a rail to be seated, and that was slightly awkward. Service was quick, my drink arrived promptly along with fluffy, buttery garlic rolls. I ordered my meal and was surprised at how soon it arrived. Corn on the cob was about the best I've ever had. Reminded me of the year we grew corn in our backyard- just break it off the stalk and throw it on the grill. This is very near that good. In fact, I kinda couldn't put down the corn. I spent a dollar extra for a 'premium ' side, loaded mashed potato. I mean, I love a good mashed tater, and this is excellent, made even more so with cheese and bacon. The star of this plate, though, is the brisket. This is damned good brisket. They give you a knife, but you don't need it, this is exceptionally tender. They give you a barbecue sauce, and it's a decent sauce. It's a tad sweet for me, but that's okay because this brisket does not need sauce. The flavor of the meat and the smoke are superb, and I hardly touched the sauce. I am very full, and I am very impressed. This was a great meal....
