We had an early lunch at this Quaker Steak & Lube location on Liberty Ave. in Vermilion, Ohio. It occupys what long ago used to be the famous McGarvey's restaurant on the Vermilion River. There is ample outdoor seating to enjoy the river view and boats going to and fro in the warm months. Inside, you find a nicely stocked horseshoe bar with sports tv screens all around. This would be a great choice for viewing a sporting event while enjoying a cold beer. I have been here before and completed the hot wing challenge and got a cool Tshirt for doing so. Today I had the super hot and mango habenero wings with fries, which did not dissapoint. My wife had a cheeseburger, which is huge, 8oz patty I think. Our server was very nice and really attentive to our table, so no delay in drinks or food service. The restaurant is built up off the ground level so there are about 10 steps to climb to enter, but fear not, the ownership has an elevator located next to the steps to allow wheelchair and handicap access. Overall, a good, family-friendly restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere and great views.

Went here for my first time today after hearing a lot about it. Very neat place with a cool bar on the inside and amazing patio seating over looking the water. Absolutely beautiful views on the patio/outside deck. My mom got the biker chick salad that was a rather large portion size (she couldn't even finish it) and it was delicious and full of fresh fruit with an amazing wild berry poppyseed dressing. (10/10 would recommend trying this salad) and I got the "cheesesteak phil-m-up" though I got it without mushrooms and a side of seasoned sweet potato waffle fries. The waffle fries were to die for. Some of the best I've ever had actually. The cheesesteak was a bit on the dry side but it came with a thousand island kind of dressing that helped that but overall I would likely choose something different next time. It left a lot to be desired unfortunately. The waitress we had was extremely kind and took great care of us overall. It was a great experience and I will surely be back but again the cheesesteak will not be ordered again.

Updated Review: My wife and I stopped in for lunch to give them another try. There were only a couple people there at 1:30 on a Thursday. Service was good. We had the pretzels and cheese appetizer then my wife ordered the quesadilla and I had the chicken tenders with fries and broccoli. Food was fresh. Pretzels and cheese were great! However our meals were pretty bland unfortunately. Wasn’t really impressed. But we’ll come back for appetizers another time. Previous Review: Ate at this location for lunch. $20 for 12 wings in two sauces, fries & water. Wings tasted reheated & barely any sauce & fries were soggy. Not impressed at all, especially the price I paid. Won't be returning anytime soon. #MajorDisappointment #WingFail

I went there for lunch with three friends. It took us an hour and a half to get our food and it wasn't busy. Our waitress would say she was bringing us different things we asked for and then forget. Then she kept messing up bills and redoing them. The only way I could get her to come back and take our money was stand up and pretend I was going to leave. She takes our and money and does the most unforgiveable thing I have ever experienced in a restaurant. SHE STOLE OUR CHANGE!!!!! All four of us got our paper money back but no silver change!!!! When we asked for it, she reached into her apron and started bringing out change and then went back and looked at the bills. My sister's bill was $13.21. She brought her back 30 cents. We were appalled that we had to deal with an incompetent waitress who was ALSO A THIEF!!!! Needless to say, we left no tip for the thief. As we're leaving the restaurant, she yelled loudly, "THANKS FOR THE TIP, LADIES!!" As if she really expected a tip from us???? Talked to manager who said she would take care of it. One of my friends talked to Corporate who said she was new and was "coached". WHAT?????????? I would NEVER, EVER, FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE GO TO SUCH A PLACE THAT HAS BAD SERVICE, WAITRESSES THAT ARE THIEVES AND THEN YELL INSULTING COMMENTS TO CUSTOMERS WHO WERE THEIR VICTIMS!!!. The waitress's name was Kaycee or Kaydee or something close to that. I will continue to steer people away from this place forever. We never got an apology from the business or anything to show they remedied their situation with the THIEF. If you do go to this place, plan on extremely poor service, and count your change carefully. Especially if your waitress is Kaycee or Kadee. She's an out and out thief and shouldn't be anywhere dealing with the public and...

I love the outside dining area however bees and spiders were a issue!!!!! The amount of bees flying around in this area was insane!!!!!! I had 2 spiders. 1 on me and 1 on my son. From underneath the table. They should be wiped off and sprayed!!!!! Also the outside dining isn't SO wonderful! The sun is blaring right on you from over the river there and it made the dining experience so terrible! They only have about 4 umbrellas for the whole patio down there so not everyone can get 1!!!! When we 1st got there the couple next to us moved to a table with a umbrella. We in the middle of our meal moved to a open table with an umbrella. And as we were leaving another couple was preparing to move to our table for the umbrella because they said they just couldn't take sitting there in the direct sun like that! They really should invest in more umbrellas! Every table should have 1!!!!! I get we all choose to seat out there but can't no one just sit under the sun like that!!!!!!! Not moving etc!!!!!!!! Each table should have the option to open or close an umbrella!!!!!!

My food was disappointing! I got mac n cheese bowl with the chicken. For the price; i was very mad when i was given a very very small bowl!!!!!! It actually looked more like a appetizer!!!!!!! Also got loaded potato skins. Which was only non breaded jo jo's with cheese melted on them. Most of the potatoes were not cooked! Very hard! Not something I'll ever order from there again!!!!! Also ordered wings. They were good. However I'm never understanding why the price is SO high!!!!!!!! For 3 ppl my bill was almost $100. And we all had water! 1 appetizer, 3 meals from menu. Nothing extra added! To me, it was way to expensive...

Here’s the deal with the place. Worked here for 3 years. Currently attend as an understanding customer.

What you need to know: the water is beautiful and the restaurant has the best location in Vermilion for the price point. A real driver for why this place stays busy.

Downside: if you are looking to eat quick (in and out within an hour) that won’t happen here. Small kitchen with three different seating sections (inside, patio, and dock). A lot of space for one small kitchen. Trying to visit on a Holiday? Good luck with fast food that is right. HOWEVER the staff will tell you how it is if you ask! They want to make sure you are happy and the service teams are awesome. Don’t get me wrong the cook staff work hard too, it’s just a bad set up for a big restaurant. If you are game to get day drunk and sit and look at the water, then have a BLAST HERE. The drinks are plenty and cold!

Give good tips (and if you can’t monetarily show your appreciation make sure to fill out the surveys on the receipts! The servers with the most/best reviews get rewarded!).

Food: Very few things on the menu I wouldn’t get. If it’s busy pass on the cheesy fries unless you want a rubber layer of cheese. Combo plates also suck, very little food for the $$. Everything else you really...
