I have been eating at Eddies as long as I can remember. Some of my most cherished memories include a trip to Eddies. After moving away I only get to come here once or twice a year when I am in town. It has always been a must have anytime I am in town. Unfortunately over the last few years the experience has continued to decline. It seems from my point of view the children of the original owner (possibly the daughter) took over several years ago and she doesn't care about the business or the customers as much as the original owners. The food quality continues to plummet and the service is poor and down right rude at times. The lemon blend no longer has that unnmistakeable flavor of summer in Meadville as they resemble a cheap powder lemonade now. They have even bottled up the secret sauce to try and squeeze a few more nickels from the business model. I am sure this new recipe must be pumped with all kinds of preservatives and other junk that were not a part of the recipe before she took over. My last trip to Eddies will be my last as I do not want the memories I have here to continue to be tarnished by what the business is now. I wish the new owners were more concerned with maintaining the culture created by the original Eddie. His passion for quality and his customers is a part of so many Meadville memories over the decades. A place that felt like home now feels like a cheap NYC hot dog cart. It is obvious that the new owner has no care about the product or the customers and is only concerned with squeezing every nickel out of this business she can before she drives the thing into the ground. It is obvious the business is more of a pain than a passion now and that's...
Read moreIconic, landmark, and a historic place to eat while in Meadville. It definitely lived up to the hype. We visited during lunch hours on a weekday, so there was a line to order, which is a good sign of good food. The line went at a decent rate. I ordered a footlong hot dog with the works, both my sons got sloppy Joe's, and we got fries and drinks. Good prices on all the food and drinks. The food came out pretty quickly, and it was GREAT. One of the best tasting hot dogs I've ever had, seriously. Evidently, the sloppy Joe's were great too, I don't think either of my sons chewed much at all, just vacuumed them down. There is no indoor seating, everything is outdoor and uncovered, so we ate in our car. We visited this place at the recommendation of my mother in law, who grew up in Meadville. It was a GREAT recommendation, so worth it. We'll go every...
Read moreWe went here because of the outstanding reviews that others left, but the food itself left us pretty nonplussed. The food is pretty grease and tomato forward. That is about what you get.
Per someone's recommendation, we got hot dogs with joe and cheese sauce. The dogs themselves were good. The cheese sauce had no flavor, and the joe sauce just tasted of tomato.
We also got supreme fries that sounded good on the menu. The fries themselves were okay, but they "supreme" aspect was just more grease and tomato.
They take cash only, which would be nice to know online.
There is a lack of parking (which is fine), and it seems pretty popular with the locals. The staff was friendly enough. The food just...
