Edible but not mouthwatering We ordered stew chicken and oxtails. The service was slow but they apologized. The server was a pleasant young lady that took my requests seriously to keep food separate. The large was giving medium. The oxtail was tender, salty, fatty and didn’t have any pepper. We need to stop pandering our food for people who cannot handle spice and cook it the way our ancestors did! The rice and peas was shelly and not too dry. They had many drink options but beside coconut water none was sugar free. They had ample seating and good music. Located in a plaza so plenty of parking. Overall it was very basic. I won’t be going back.

Writing this a few minutes after my doordash was dropped off. I usually go to this restaurant once or twice a week for my lunch break and get the medium sweet and sour tofu. The white rice and cabbage soaked with the sauce is perfect. Every time I go, either in person or today with Doordash, they TRULY hook it up with portions. If you're vegan/vegetarian definitely give this place your business. Where else can you get meat-free options in Vernon? Also I was given two extra spinach patties that I hadn't tried before with my delivery and they were amazing. This food and service never disappoints.

Update: Oxtail is still amazing, also tried the mango drink which was very good, maybe a little too sweet. Highly recommend! Came back for the oxtail. Still excellent. I also tried the jerk chicken mac and cheese. That was expensive for the 4x4 inch square. Overall it seems like prices have gone up. I assume this is due to covid. A very nice restaurant with a clean interior. The large portion is a good size to split for lunch. Tried the jerk chicken and oxtail. Both were very good, oxtail came with a gravy that was good on the rice. Will have to try other dishes.

I am a bit new to the jamaican food game. So far, this is the best jamaican restaurant I have been to. The staff are very friendly and welcoming (for the most part). The only exception is that because of the order-at-the-counter set up, it is understandable for the person taking orders to get a bit overwhelmed. The line/ordering area is a little confused, and during my visit people seemed to just walk in and cut where the line would intuitively be. Didn't do much to slow down me getting my food, so it doesn't detract from the rating.

The jerk chicken is perfect, just the right level of spice. I tried the jerk chicken sandwich, and while it seemed a little expensive for the size, it was hands down one of the best sandwiches I have had, and it was really the perfect lunch size.

The people, once again, are really great and friendly. They deliver through door dash, but you are doing yourself a disservice if you dont stop in to eat your order at least occasionally. The space is small, but very bright and clean. Great spot and convenient to the highway if you are just driving through.

TLDR:...

These reviews are OVER HYPED! I guess it’s because it’s the only “Jamaican” restaurant in the area. I must first compliment the cleanliness of the restaurant, that’s the only thing I was impressed by. Now let me get to the food and customer service. The food is NOT authentic, the servings are very very small for the price that is charged. I ordered a small fried chicken with rice and peas, I was give 1 spoon of rice (literally), 1 leg and a small thigh for $13. at a traditional Jamaican restaurant for $13, you would definitely get your money’s worth, and the food would taste much much better. The customer service was horrible, the cashier who took my order was clearly impatient, and while taking my order, she was leaned over slouching, with her two elbows on the counter (very unprofessional). When my order was done being prepared, I asked for hot sauce (I was expecting the small bottle of grace Jamaican hot sauce), the cashier handed me crushed scotch bonnet, I told her I wanted hot sauce, with a attitude she replied “THIS IS THE ONLY THING WE HAVE”…Chances of me going back here is...

Have ordered wonderful food from here before. Oxtail, rum cake and beef patties. Looking to branch out but am a spice wimp. Called to ask if the jerk chicken was spicy. The recommendation was order the jerk sauce on the side. Also recommended was the jerk chicken mac and cheese, sauce on the side. So, having worked all night without eating ordered a beef patty, jerk chicken and jerk chicken mac and cheese thru uber eats. Lunch came very quickly and hot. I ordered enough food to feed me for a week so had 1/4 of the mac and cheese. OMG it was tasty. Just the right spice level for this wimp and creamy. I had to call the woman back as was so impressed by the mac and cheese. She was wonderful. I told her think I may be a closet Jamaican. I later after the conversation tried a bite of the jerk chicken. Very flavorful and tender. Just enough spice for this wimp with sauce not added. Highly recommend this restaurant. Have had the beef patties and the oxtail, so good and the rum...
