Terrible food! The āVermontā burger was dry had some flavor but over cooked and dry. The French fries (the few they gave) were Not hot and fresh. They throw a lettuce, tomato and two pickles on the side which didnāt match the burger (weird combination). There was no ketchup on the table when we asked for it they said itās there, but wasnāt and had to go get one from another table! The coasters were thrown in a rush on the table for the drinks. The lemonade and Mango drinks were very tasty, but my strawberry lemonade had a cherry and lemon in it not a strawberry. The fish tacos had such few pieces of fish it was not enjoyable to eat and the rice was old and dry tasting. The steak my dad had was decent, but overcooked as well but his salad was plentiful. They donāt give senior discounts even a Chinese buffet gives a senior discount. The food was cheap not worth the cost. The waitress she was half way nice, but rushed and got attitude when we wanted to pay at front. I guess you pay at the table and let them take your card out of view so they could scam you; if not careful. Good luck, but wonāt be returning. Gross place and ESPN playing on Tv with loud obscene vulgar music playing over intercom, just not a good environment.
Positives: seating is nice the booths are big enough to accommodate and the tables clean they were cleaning them when we were there. Parking is plentiful.
Negatives: the menu seems to be mostly appetizers and liquor. Family meals not really a highlight. The steak menus was nothing but 3 meals of beef Tips and 2 of a 12 oz and 8oz steak. The sides are minimal and sides like asparagus and mashed potatoās donāt match items like a burger. No onion rings on menu? There was no great chicken meals just some chicken fried steak or grilled chicken not many options. The fish n chips we had a few weeks ago was good so not sure maybe a different cook and staff that day. This review is of the day we went on Sunday. They also offer no mints on way out. The little things that make up a old fashioned family restaurant donāt...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe are frequent patrons & Rewards members of the Vernon, CT 99 location. Today was our worst experience ever, by far! We waited at least 5 minutes at the hostess counter before our presence was acknowledged by anyone. Then, it took another 2 to 3 minutes to be seated. Our waitress was very impersonal and rushed. She seemed, especially "put out' by our request to use our Rewards card & earned benefit. While servicing another table, our waitress dropped a container of applesauce, which splashed on my husband's hair & shirt (Also on our table & booth seat.) She seemed almost in disbelief that it landed on him at all and stated "It's only a little bit'...which it wasn't! Now, about our meals... I ordered a Southwest chicken salad. In the past, when I've ordered this dish, the chicken was served warm. Today, however, the chicken was ice cold with congealed fat on it. When I questioned this, I was informed by our waitress that the chicken in this dish is ALWAYS served cold because it's "pre-cooked." How unappetizing! I reiterated that I've had it served with warm chicken in the past. She took my salad & apparently went and conferred with the chef & manager. Then she came back to argue her point even further... Again, stating this dish is ALWAYS served with cold chicken unless they're "out of cold chicken," then and only then would it be served warm. Interesting!!! At this point, I unfortunately decided not to eat a meal with my husband. I did not feel confident that a salad replacement would acceptably prepared, especially given the somewhat hostile environment. What happened to customer service & actually caring about making the customer happy?! Prices have increased drastically, and now the waitstaff, while expecting higher tips, feel totally comfortable arguing with their tip source...US!! The customer!! I would NOT recommend this location because of the subpar food & service. If you're looking to sharpen your debating skills, this is the place for you! However, we will be spending our hard earned...
Ā Ā Ā Read more99 is one of my all time favorite restaurants. So why would I give it 4 stars instead of 5?? Well no one is perfect through probably over 100 visits. First the good stuff. The food is always consistently very good. I mostly stick to the burgers but have had the steak tips, lobster rolls, fettuccine Alfredo, fried seafood combos, Cesar salads, prime rib and plenty more. The burgers have gotten so much better over the years too, to the point they've become the best ones around. Just big, cooked to order perfect every time, and great selection of toppings. The trivia they do on Thursday night's is fun too, but haven't been able to do that in forever because of work :(. Lastly to the few instances I've had problems there management seems extremely quick to fix any issue and always takes something off the bill if what was ordered was unsatisfactory. This happened to me or someone I was with maybe 4 times total out of over 100 visits so a perfect track record in my opinion. Now my negatives and why I'm down a star on them. Beer on tap selection could be better. I prefer IPA's and they are weak in this department although it's not always been the case. French fries used to be better, crunchier, now they're a little under cooked and the portions have gotten consistently smaller over the years. Lastly the lobster rolls used to be absolutely killer, just the best around. Their current offering doesn't cut it in comparison. They made the lobster roll much smaller, and more expensive, but added a tiny cup of chowder. If they fixed those 3 easy things they're back up to 5 for me. Still love em anyways. Oh and people cheat like crazy with their smart phones on trivia night, they should pay more attention to that considering gift certs, essentially a cash prize is...
