Vernon Pizza Restaurant — Restaurant in Vernon

We relocated to Vernon almost 2 years ago and have gotten pizza from here a few times but this was our first eat in experience and I have to say it was excellent. The pizza has always been good so we figured the the rest of their food would be good too and we were not disappointed. The menu has a decent selection of the foods you'd expect and considering the portion size the prices are more than reasonable. There were 4 of us at the table and we all brought home a second meal worth of leftovers. I had the chicken marsala, the linguini was perfectly cooked, the chicken super tender and tasty, the sauce was thick and plentiful and there were tons of mushrooms. I've had marsala at plenty of places were the sauce was runny and there were almost no mushrooms, not the case here. My wife had a calzone that could've fed 3 people and our friends had eggplant parm and chicken parm with pasta that needed its own plate because of the size of the chicken and eggplant. We tried Vernon pizza after a 6 month hiatus from eating at restaurants because we have a new baby. We were looking for quick, simple, and family-friendly. Unfortunately it's a "seat yourself" dining room and there wasn't enough staff for the amount of people, so we sat for close to 10 mins before even being greeted, which- with a hungry toddler and a baby- is like an eternity. They didn't have Crayons or anything to keep kids happy, and they didn't have a kids pizza option, which I expect when dining at a family pizza establishment. Without that option, us parents are stuck sharing a plain cheese pizza with our kids instead of having the option to choose our own meal (which is kinda the whole reason we want to eat out.). After all that, the food was mediocre. The sauce tasted straight from the can. On a positive note it was inexpensive and the restaurant was nice inside. The food is amazing I have never had a complaint about the way the food was made or the way it tasted. However that being said if they are busy and they tell you 20 minutes wait that is a lie it's always much more than 20 minutes for me.Also I had 2 occasions where they forgot part of my order and I did not notice until I got home.

One last thing- They love ignoring you. I walk in to pick up my order and sometimes on slower days there is never anyone at the counter to check me out. I even had the guy who owns the place walk right by me and into the kitchen without checking if I had been helped only for him to come out 5 minutes later and see me standing there still with no one to help me and him just leave again no servers or anyone to come help me until I finally called out to the lady working there who was just wandering around.
