Actually took some time to contemplate writing this review, but I think it's important that this establishment learn its lesson from this very concerning situation. Our group was composed of 4 individuals which had one POC, one of the few at the establishment.
We went over to try this place from the beach, so we were covered but in beach attire. I asked if there was a dress code to which they told us no. They sat us and this is where the problems began. Our server Johnny completely ignored us for over 10 minutes. When he came he didn't bring water or anything for us. We orderred appetizers and literally said we wanted to order a bottle of wine. It took him another 15 minutes to get the wine, we didn't even get the apps. When we did get the apps, they were ROTTEN (see picture). We asked to speak to their manager who I had to ask for, wave at, and walk up directly to and say he needs to be at our table. who didn't even apologize and Still made us pay (he did remove the below item)
Genuinely this place deserves this review save the money and go to cobalt across the street. We were in the same attire and they treated us so well and got a 30% tip as thanks.
STATEMENT TO OWNER: We came from the beach as this is only a block from the beach... I said and asked about dress and they said we were fine, we are young professionals in shorts and T shirts with no tattoos or anything skimpy on. If there is a dress code you should inform your staff and your staff shouldnt have let in the older group next to us in wife beaters and shorts. Once again folks cobalt has no issues.
Also, from the picture you can see its poor tuna not soy./marinade issue. I have eaten raw and marinated TUNA my entire life as a floridian and can you attest for the rotten flavor? WAS that the soy? As I said it was nearly 2 1/2 months ago if you ahd read the post so Johnny was indeed not on vacation. This response is exactly...
Read moreIf you must go to this place -- and I do not recommend it -- do not use an online gift certificate. Here's out story: Our daughter gave us a big gift certificate for this restaurant. We went on New Year's Day. Service was abysmal -- 20 minute gaps between waitress visits. We had reservations, but it took 20 minutes to get a menu. The guy at the adjoining table waited 40 minutes for his drink. When the food came, the steak appetizer was odd-looking and had little flavor. Our shrimp entrees were tough and rubbery -- way overcooked. However, the chocolate balloon dessert was to die for. We could not spend all of the gift certificate. There was more than $60 left after our meal. But they would not allow us to pay the tip with some of it. So, because I knew we would not return, I figured that rather than use the certificate, I'd pay and get the certificate refunded to my daughter. The gift certificate terms said to call the restaurant "for information about refunds." I did. Two weeks later, Polo''s manager had not called back. I called again and she said the owner does not refund gift cards. I guess that's the "information" they were talking about. She would not tell me how to call the owner, but have me his email address. He never replied. To sum up: Some people seem to like this place. I can't see why, but if you're one of them, don't use or give a gift card. Unlike the way it works at many restaurants, the gift certificate is not like money, and the restaurant can make up all the rules. Here, you have to use all of the card, you can't use any of it for a tip, and they won't give you money back on it. If you've never eaten here, think twice before you do. Consider how customer-unfriendly our experience was and consider whether you want to risk having an experience like ours. Vero has too many other, more friendly places where you can...
Read moreService was fine food was not great. We went there with a group of 11 and had a reservation. Seated quickly and we're able to order drinks and apps on a normal timeframe. 5 young adults ordered first and were served first to keep kitchen chaos out Now for the food... one in our party ordered the ribeye rare. Waiter "are you sure" to which she replied "yes, rare.". Steak came out medium or medium well. She kindly pointed this out to which waiter took it back to kitchen. Comes back with steak and flashlight and says "this appears to be close to rare in kitchen light". Guest took it to save problems. Who does this?
Baked potatoes are a upgrade in cost, fine. I ordered mine with no sour cream. Comes out room temperature and small amounts of sour cream in it, as if someone scooped the mistake out. 4 others had room temperature potatoes too.
Ribeye was ok, was not a bone in and had a lot of fat on it.
Ordered old fashioned cam out without ice.
Water is not poured with ice, obtains a refill of water proved to be impossible. The lighting outside is simply construction LED l blue lights pointing at the ceiling. Restaurant next door has nicely hung string lights.
Pimento cheese starter was good.
All in all, bill was just shy of $1100 with dinner and drinks for our group. This is expected, given the orders placed. What's not expected is cold potato's, food not cooked to your liking (after asking and confirming your liking). Sour cream removed from potato as if to say good enough, lack of water to drink, no ice, need I say more. Under no circumstances would i recommend Polo Grill Vero Beach Florida. Others in our large sports group mad their way to Ocean Grill and had good things to say.
This place is clearly a one and done. The question wil be how lane...
