Craig's Cake Shop — Restaurant in Verona

Here comes a novel but I really feel strongly about spreading the word about Craig’s and to explain why they are getting a 5 star review from me. 20 years ago my husband took me to Craig’s Cakes for a tasting to see if we would want him to do our wedding cake. Craig met us at the shop on a Sunday because our schedules were so hectic. He was not at all what you would expect for a baker, 6’ + tall ex-military hulk looking more like a secret service agent than a guy who makes delicate little frosting flowers for a living. He had only been in business for a very short time and he was in his very first store front shop which was kind of shabby and sparse. It looked more like an insurance sales office than a bakery. I’ll be honest... I was really skeptical based on my first impressions walking in. But then he brought out a platter with some samples of his cakes. I knew after the very first bite that I would never find a cake that tastes better. Craig was very helpful with choosing the flavors and sizes. He was a perfectionist and promised the cake would be a big hit. Our wedding cake was gorgeous and our guests raved about it for years after. Since then we have used Craig’s for anniversary celebrations and birthday parties and bridal showers and just for fun on a few occasions. When Craig retired and sold the shop I was worried the quality would suffer or that the new owners would change everything. I would have been very disappointed if that had happened. Thankfully it didn’t. Now just recently, the business was up for sale once again and after a long, long time without any interest there was a notice on their website that they would be going out of business. NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! Thankfully in the 11th hour, a buyer appeared to save the day. Once again though I worried about quality and that signature frosting. And once again I had nothing to worry about. Not only is it still the same amazing cake and frosting but they saved me when I got my dates mixed up. I thought the party was NEXT WEEKEND. I didn’t get my order in with a week’s notice. They really do need that amount of time as they are SO busy. But I thought maybe they could set me up with some cupcakes or a couple small round cakes. So I crossed my fingers and called the morning of the party to see if by some miracle they would be able to piece together something somewhat respectable, but they did even better. They had a 1/4 sheet cake of exactly what I was hoping for available in their case. A few lovely paw print decorations and vwala we had the perfect birthday cake for our neices party. In the 20 years since our wedding, we moved closer to Milwaukee for my husband’s new job but we make the drive to Verona to get our special event cakes from Craig’s because it is simply the best. I cannot thank Craig Cake's enough for being so patient and kind during the hassle we put them through with our large Cake Push-up Pop order.

My company ordered 243 Cake Push-up Pops to hand out to our business partners in honor of Administrative Professional day. We only gave a weeks notice but Craig's Cakes had no issue having them prepared in time. It was great because they let us order a variety of cake and mousse combinations. The pops were beautiful and came packaged in nice boxes. They were even so nice to let me deliver labels to adhere to each box.

Unfortunately, we made a huge error on our part by giving Craig's some of the wrong delivery addressees.... keep in mind that they had to deliver to 18 places around the Madison area for us. I felt horrible because this totally derailed the route that the owner Elisa planned. I cannot thank Elisa enough for going the extra mile for us... not only did she call me about each incorrect address but she went the extra mile to Google the correct location and deliver!! Then she went completely above and beyond by dropping the the remaining two boxes that were out of delivery range.

We are SO impressed with Elisa and the rest of the staff at Craig's Cakes. The cake pops were a HUGE hit and everyone loved them!! I would HIGHLY recommend Craig's Cake for any business or personal needs. THANKS...

My now husband and I had tasted many cakes from many shops and it felt like nothing compared to when we tasted Craig's Cakes. We booked a tasting with them to try out other flavors beyond what we had tasted at expos and we knew Craig's Cakes would be the shop to create our cake!

They understood our vision and priced it out for us as well at a VERY reasonable price compared to the other shops that we had looked at! I was extremely impressed (and shocked, let's be honest) that a cake that delicious and so well done could be within our budget. We didn't even need to compromise anything that we had in mind while presenting to other shops as well. Craig's Cakes made it happen!

Everyone LOVED our wedding cake, from the design to the texture and flavors. There was hardly any left by the end of the night! Elisa is such an amazing woman to work with and she was so kind. I know they have to see hundreds of faces at expos and on the daily, but she remembered me even after the first time we had met and that made me feel really good about booking them, because I just felt like they really care about their customers!
