Sabor De Mi Tierra Verona – A Colombian Feast to Remember
When my boyfriend and I decided to finally introduce me to his entire family for the first time, we knew it had to be over a dinner that would do justice to the warmth and richness of his Colombian culture. After searching for the best Colombian restaurant near Paterson, Sabor De Mi Tierra Verona quickly rose to the top of our list. The glowing reviews piqued our curiosity, and we were eager to see if it would live up to the hype—especially with a party of 13 and a family known for their own Colombian cooking!
The restaurant’s flexibility was evident right from the start. We initially reserved for 8 p.m., but with some family members delayed by work, we called to see if we could push back to 8:30. Not only did they happily adjust, but when we arrived, they had a beautifully set table ready for us, and we were welcomed as though we were longtime friends.
The ambiance at Sabor De Mi Tierra Verona was warm and inviting, capturing the spirit of Colombia from the decor to the music and the genuine smiles from the staff. We immediately felt at home, and any nerves about the big family introduction quickly faded as we settled in.
To start, the servers suggested a selection of appetizers to share. Every dish highlighted the true essence of Colombian flavors, giving everyone a taste of home with a touch of restaurant flair. Each bite from the assortment of appetizers seemed to transport us to a Colombian kitchen filled with laughter and love. The quality and authenticity impressed everyone at the table, even those with the highest standards for Colombian cuisine!
When it came to the main courses, Sabor De Mi Tierra Verona truly shone. Their menu featured Colombian classics that represented different regions and tastes of Colombia. The flavors were beautifully balanced—robust yet comforting, with each ingredient fresh and thoughtfully prepared. The portions were generous, and the presentation made each dish feel like a celebration. Praise to the chef and entire culinary team.
The service was impeccable throughout the night. A special thank you to our server, Elizabeth, who attended to every detail with care; her assistant, Konnar, who kept everything running smoothly; and Maria, who welcomed us with such warm hospitality that it felt like visiting family. Together, they made sure that our every need was met, making the evening feel truly special.
As someone who comes from a family deeply rooted in the restaurant industry and having dined at some of the finest establishments, I rarely write reviews. When I do, it’s because both the food and service have truly impressed me. This place deserves all the praise, and I hope others will seize the chance to experience something exceptional here.
Beyond just the food, this experience was about connection and warmth, and Sabor De Mi Tierra Verona was the perfect setting for it. For anyone looking to dive into the richness of Colombian culture or simply enjoy an extraordinary meal, this is a restaurant that must be experienced. From start to finish, it was an evening we’ll remember fondly, and I can confidently say that Sabor De Mi Tierra Verona is a true gem. Highly...
Read moreI am very confused as to how this restaurant has over 2k reviews at a 4.9 rating. ALL OF THE FOOD WE TRIED WAS AWFUL and i am 100% certain the owners and Workers know the food is trash. We ordered the Red Snapper that LOOKED fried, but was cold and soggy/not freshly fried at all. Its as if they fry the fish hours before then just toss it on your plate after its been sitting around. We also ordered some steak and fries THAT LOOKED NOTHING AT ALL like the picture in the tablet/menu. When they brought out the steak, i thought that it was an old leather workboot on the dish. The steak was thin with forced grill lines on it. It was thin and and very tough like old shoe leather AND I KNOW THAT THEY HAVE TO KNOW THAT this is TRASH. The salad was super sad looking and bland. They asked if we wanted Salad dressing and brought us out those salad dressing packetts they give you at 7Eleven or gas station. ANYWAY, You guys get the idea, this was very disgusting all the way around. Even the flan lacked love. To top it off, before we were even done with the awfulness of the whole experience, the hostess was in our face at our table FLASHING a QR CODE harassing for a forced review. I have NEVER been to a restaurant that attacked you for review before you left the establishment. SAVE YOUR MONEY OR ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK. There is no way on earth that these reviews...
Read moreThis restaurant really needs to stop showing music videos on huge TVs. We've been there for family dinner twice and once for breakfast. The raunchy music videos just ruin the atmosphere. It is completely distracting and so hard to keep your eyes off it because the televisions take up half the wall on both sides. If customers in the private party room request that, then fine, show those videos there; not in the main dining room. Why not just play the music without the raunchy images being in your face??
Our waitress was very attentive, but we noticed the other waiters kept having to change the music videos. They were searching YouTube constantly because the songs that kept coming up were too raunchy. Why even give your staff that burden if you have a restaurant to run?? Keep it about the food.
Speaking of food: one person in our party ordered a steak that was extremely chewy and dry and another ordered a steak that was thinner, still very chewy. The food is flavorful but they really need to work on softening the red meat.
I'm a Hispanic and of course love eating cuisine from the various Latino countries that makeup our beautiful Hispanic culture. But when you go out to family dinner in places like this it's hard to enjoy the very family at your table because the TVs are so distracting.
I hope the owners see this and shift...
