Golden Gate Chinese Restaurant pleasantly surprised me with its commitment to delivering classic Chinese cuisine done right. Despite the unassuming exterior of the building, the establishment shines through its attentive staff and delightful food.
Our meal consisted of Sesame Chicken, General Tso's Chicken, Lo Mein, and Steamed Rice. The chicken dishes were standout performers, boasting the perfect level of crunch and a generous coating of flavorful sauces. While both were executed flawlessly, General Tso's Chicken held a special place in my heart, though a touch more spice would have elevated it even further.
The Sesame Chicken, although delectable, presented a slight variation from what we're accustomed to at our favorite Chinese restaurant. As for the Lo Mein, it initially leaned towards the milder side but transformed with a dash of soy sauce, revealing its true potential.
The impeccable service deserves commendation. Our waitress went above and beyond, literally running between tables to ensure everyone's satisfaction. Her unwavering dedication, constant smile, and humility in the face of compliments left a lasting impression.
Golden Gate Chinese Restaurant embraces family-style dining, so plan accordingly when ordering. If you're in search of genuine Chinese cuisine that's far from languishing under heat lamps on a steam table, this establishment comes highly recommended. It's a delightful destination for those seeking an authentic Chinese...
Read moreThis place was very solid. I'm honestly always surprised at the places where I find really good Chinese food. There's a lot of mid-grade to really bad stuff out there and a lot of it is in the middle of big cities where you would think it would be better. My favorite Chinese restaurant ever is located in the small town I grew up in. I thought that this might be a subjective evaluation since it's what I grew up on but every time someone goes out there with me and tries it, they agree wholeheartedly so now I'm always eager to try new places in small towns off the beaten path. This place fits the bill. I'm not going to say it's on par with my childhood favorite but it's definitely well above average. The flavors were fresh, clean and well defined. The service was friendly and helpful and the restaurant was clean and comfortable. My favorite item was the Won Ton soup but it was all pretty good. I am going to start adding the following question to all my reviews of Chinese restaurants now though; Why is it so hard to find Almond Fried Chicken outside of the state of WA? Please work this into...
Read more1st time absolutely outstanding: plenty of tomatoes in "BEEF TOMATO", mustard dish, bowl covering rice to keep warm, beef excellent, pleasant people. 2nd time just like Panda Express - minimal everything (3 tiny pieces of tomato) not worth $10.50 price. 3rd time had it out with experienced waitress: she offered more tomatoes for another dollar (even tho I was told by owner on visit #2 to ask for extra tomatos next visit.) Told her no NO WAY & started to exit. She agreed with me & took order to kitchen. Problem solved but for no mustard & white rice uncovered. When I read the bill, meal was priced at $10.95 & not $10.50 printed on menu. She was obviously senior waitress cause was working on all 3 visits and the ticket error was a deliberate effort to recover the "extra" tomato cost. I challenged her & price was corrected. At this point, I'm not up to fighting for a good meal for a stated price so I'll check around other places. 1st visit was right on the money (pun intended) so I feel badly, but enough is enough, considering dishonest game...
