Steeplechase Grille & Tavern — Restaurant in Vidalia

THE WORST SERVICE I NEVER HAD! I was thirsty from the swealtering heat and a little hungry and was by Steeplechase Grill. Saw a few cars in parking lot so figured they were open. I walked in looked to the left and no one was in the dinning area, looked to the right into the bar area and see 5 people there. So i go sit at the bar. Sitting 4 seats from me is a male i believed to either be the bar tender or a cook, because he had a shirt on that recognized him as an employee there. He looked at me when i sat down, he was in conversation with someone else and never acknowledged me. A few feet from him was a girl sitting in a booth with the same shirt on so I figured she had to be a waitress or some other type of employee. By me were too men speaking, I would find out later one of them was the owner. After a few minutes another girl with the same type of shirt comes out of the back and sits next to the other girl in the bar and they start talking. The bar is small enough that anyone coming in there would be noticed by anyone else there. I sat at the bar for about 12 -15 minutes and no one ever aknowledged me or asked me if i wanted something. I was about to leave when the conversations between the 2 men infont me ended and i was staring right at the owner, so he asked me if he could help me with something and I spoke to him about something else. I will have to say that I have never been to a restaurant where the employees or owner did not aknowledge someone as they came into the place or were aware of a potentiale customer. Not sure this place will be open much longer and I would never...

As for the main course the steak at Steeplechase is truly something special. In fact, it’s one of the best, if not the best, steaks I’ve ever had from a restaurant. Perfectly cooked, seasoned to perfection, and full of flavor in every bite.

I order online (using THEIR website) to this restaurant maybe once, twice a month. And it is not just me, many co-workers. Today when I placed my online order, I modified my order. The Chicken Havana, that comes with rice and beans, instead of the rice and beans I wanted broccoli. Ok, easy enough, took away 2 SIDES and wanted broccoli. So all I wanted was a chicken breast with a side of broccoli, easy enough. I ordered it, USING THEIR SITE, and paid. Within 10 seconds I got an email saying it was "declined".. OK, so I call. Finally spoke to someone.. that told me I couldn't order it that way and it would have to rang in totally different. They never offered to take my order, they never contacted me before "declining" my order, even though I had provided my information when I did my online order. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, it is a shame that they were willing to lose a local customer over a side of broccoli, or not even caring enough to try and fix it.
