I want to preface this by saying the food was really very good. The cheese was melted to perfection and their employees honestly are nice, however their menu had some inaccuracies.
The patty melt comes with 1/2 patty, white American cheese, mushrooms, and sauteed onions; I don't like mushrooms or onions but the buddy wanted the onions so I asked them to remove the mushrooms and just put the onions on the side. The burgers came with fries, but you have the option of substituting the fries for a different side with a list of more premium sides very clearly marked $1.79 upcharge. The chili cheese fries were one of those on that list. After a hard day's work of helping people move in, I thought I might treat myself to some chili fries especially for just a $1.79 upcharge.
I noticed that the chili cheese fries were charged as $3.50 before I got my food and so I got up to ask about it. The manager looked and saw what I was talking about about with the menu saying $1.79 but my receipt showing $3.50 and decided to ring it up again just to see what happened and sure enough the chili fries are $3.50. So she apologized and said "yeah it looks like they are $3.50. Our menus need to be updated..." She proceeds to point out a number of other items on the menu that don't show the correct pricing then apologized again. The manager made sure to bring out the chili cheese fries herself and asked if I wanted any extra chili or any queso or ranch to go with them, but all I wanted was for their menus to be correct and the difference in the cost refunded. I would NOT have gotten chili cheese fries had I known they were $3.50. They were really good, but not worth $3.50 to me.
It was only after I got my food when I saw that the onions were in fact on the burger. I looked at the receipt again to verify that we did indicate onions on the side and saw that they had also charged me 79¢ for onions that come with the burger to be put on the side. At this point I didn't feel like getting up again or causing a scene so I picked off the onions and ate my food. Electing instead to leave a review.
If it were my restaurant, at the first offense I would have not only recognized that the mistake was on our end and apologized, but I would have at least offered to refund the difference in the items and then promptly made sure my menu was updated. The menus are digital too, so it wouldn't even be difficult to update them. Should be done after any change to the menu. I also would have made sure that everything else on that customers order was correct devoid of any silly mistakes like getting charged for onions that already come with their burger.
Once again, the food was very good, the atmosphere was great, and the staff was kind, but I give two stars because I over paid 3 dollars for my meal. One star for each dollar I overpaid.
{As I write this I am reminded that while we were ordering the manager came out and asked the fellow working the register if a certain customer had ordered, this customer was apparently well known and cared about by the manager at least if not the rest of the staff as she called her by name and knew she couldn't eat bacon, but the lady had called and said there was bacon on...
Read moreWe have been customers here for a couple years. And we were in on 8/31/2025 and we were not very impressed with any of it. The cashier named Angel was leaning over on the counter while taking our order like we inconvenienced her by being there. And I wanted to purchase a single piece of fried fish with my order and I was told I would have to purchase a fish dinner. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak that was suppose to be fork tender and it was tough and grisly. My mashed potatoes were cold. My husbands fries were cold and the bun on his burger was dry and stale. The meat patty was dry. My grand daughter said her fries were cold too. Seemed like a bunch of kids playing. There are no other customers left while we were still eating and there were tables that had not even been cleaned off. Very disappointed. May not...
Read moreWe like finding restaurants on our I-10 trips. This one was close to the highway. It was Sunday after 12, so we probably didn’t come at the best time, because our wait was about 45 minutes. It’s a small diner, so it doesn’t hold many people. You order at the register. The staff told us the wait was also long because they were training a new cook. The food was better than traditional diner food however. We both had breaded chicken with our meals and you could tell it was fresh. Well cooked. Same thing with the okra and sweet potato fries; you could tell the okra especially was fresh. I like when restaurants use cinnamon with the sweet potato fries. Just needed a bit of a spice to even out the cinnamon, maybe a chili powder or garlic? Long wait but at least the...
