I do not leave many 5-Star reviews. This is one of them.
We came here on a whim one fateful Sunday and the experience, despite being entirely unplanned has, to put it straightforwardly, transformed the fiber of our very souls. We purchased the chicken, but it would be more accurate to say that the chicken purchased our affections.
Chi Mc is a pretty unassuming restaurant on the outside but, I kid you not, it was the smell that may or may not have been coming out of the place that lured us in. We walked into the store and were shocked to see that there was absolutely no one inside. We came around lunchtime on a Sunday, so it was a little surprising that there wasn't anyone inside. Nevertheless, the manager (or whoever was working the counter that day) popped his head out from the kitchen and welcomed us in. He walked us through the menu and provided his recommendations (the fried chicken, obviously topped the list).
We placed an order for the bone-in wings that were a mix of both spicy and their soy garlic flavors and which point we took our seats.
The restaurant is really clean (which is saying something for a BBQ place) and there were plenty of places to sit. We had been sitting for a couple of minutes when the man (who I'm going to keep calling the manager), came around the corner with a tray. On it he had one soy garlic and one spicy wing for us to try, free of charge. He wanted to make sure that the spicy wings weren't going to be too hot for us which was part offensive and part incredibly kind. We tried both wings and decided that we wanted them both.
The chicken itself took a long time to make, probably about 20 minutes, but the manager said it was because they were making the chicken fresh in the back, which was pretty cool.
A little while later the food came out piping hot...and I mean piping. In addition, the manager brought us out some kimchi coleslaw (one of his favorite dishes) for us, free of charge.
The food....oh the food....it was incredible. We were hungry, which definitely made a difference, but both the spicy and soy garlic wings were packed full of flavor. I don't really know what that means, but it's the only way I can think to describe what happened in my mouth. The noises that we made while consuming the food was both disgusting and, dare I say, appealing?
The spicy wings are, in fact, quite spicy. That, coupled with the fact that they are, from a temperature perspective, like molten lava when they come out of the kitchen, makes them a painful pleasure to enjoy. Your mouth begs you to stop, your stomach begs you to continue and 'round and 'round you go. Have some water handy to quench the flames.
The kimchi coleslaw was also really good and that's saying something for a guy who doesn't like coleslaw.
All in all, this place is awesome. The service is wonderful, the food is delicious and the price is expensive, but reasonable for the amount of food that you get. The combo plate was enough to feed our family of four and gave us leftovers.
We'll definitely be coming...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of trying Korean fried chicken for the first time with my girlfriend, and it was truly a stellar experience. Not only was the food delicious and flavorful, but we had the added benefit of a truly helpful employee who walked us through the ordering process.
This employee was extremely kind, patient, and knowledgeable about the menu options, which made choosing our dishes a breeze. Every recommendation they made was spot-on, and they went out of their way to make sure we had a clear understanding of what we were ordering.
The food itself was nothing short of amazing. The Korean fried chicken was crispy, juicy, and seasoned to perfection, and it came with a range of delicious dipping sauces that elevated the meal even further. My girlfriend and I were blown away by the quality of the food, and we can't wait to come back again.
Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a great Korean fried chicken experience. The helpful employee we encountered truly went above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable and enjoyable experience, and we left feeling thoroughly impressed. We will definitely...
Read moreOverall the service is horrible and the food is mediocre + not a kid friendly restaurant! They don’t have high chairs and have a small side room that has built in booths for seating which is easier for a child to sit and eat. We’ve dined here during Covid and we were allowed in there previously, this time around we were not allowed in the side room because “the owner” was sitting in the room with his kids and wife. After the owner left we went and asked if we could now go get seated where the booths are, we were told that still we can’t have the comfortable seat for our child. Our order came out incorrectly and later than the estimated time provided to us upon paying and to top it off the onion rings and fries were cold. As for the “owner” who has his own kids, I’m sure he could have felt our pain and offer a seat on the other side but didn’t. Shows a lot about the culture of the company and why the service is the way it is. We will not be dining here ever again! Definitely a restaurant that does not deserve to...
