We drive by the Mobil station all the time and just noticed a sign showing "Chit Chaat Cafe". What in tarnations is that? Looked on Yelp.... INDIAN FOOD???
Intrigued today, we stopped by. Uhhh....where's the restaurant? Ohhhhh..... you order up front and they make it in the back!
I always try the samosa and if it'a good, the food will be good. No chicken samosas anymore so I ordered 2 veggie samosas (self service up front). The menus are up front too! Oh no fountain sodas. But they have slushies and since it's a gas station, they have all the other convenience store stuff. I ordered the chicken tikka masala platter & my son got the butter chicken masala both with Aloo Sabji (potatoes in tomato based curry). We got it to go. (*you should eat it there when its hot and fresh & I forgot to order naan!!!!!)
When we got home (20 mins later) the food was warm and wasn't as good as it should be. Along with the entree & rice & potato curry, it came with one gulab jamun (very very sweet Indian donut)!!!! The veggie samosa was very heavy and crumbly. The veggie inside was potatoes, onions and peas (I think) with exotice spice filled flavor with a heavy ginger forward taste. The tikka masala and butter chicken were very tasty with spices and smooth sauce. Basmati rice cooked perfectly. SHOULDA GOTTEN THE NAAN TO MOP UP THE SAUCE!!! Gulab Jamun was very sweet eat it with tea or coffee.
Overall, it was moderate pricing but for good quality Indian food. Portions are fair. Flavors were there. We really liked it and will be back for THE NAAN & maybe other dishes but hard to stay away from...
Read moreUpdate: the owner reached out to me, explained the mistake and made me an entire new meal and it was amazingly delicious. I got to talk to the husband wife owners for 15min and they couldn’t be nicer. Apologized and were thankful I gave them another chance and boy was I glad as well. The samosa chaat couldn’t be beat. I tried the chicken burrito and it was a wonder take a blending two types of food and the fresh samosas might be the best thing I’ve ever had. They earned my business going forward.
I am torn on how to write this review. I ordered at 2pm, for a 430pm pickup, 4 meals. I ended up getting there early at 4pm, and my order was already ready and sitting on the counter. This struck me as odd, cause had i been there on time, the food would have been sitting there for over 30min, but whatever i thought. Got home 4min after pickup, and food was already cold. I assume they made my food when I ordered it at 2pm and it sat there for 2hrs waiting... After heating everything up, the food tasted pretty OK, but they have lost me as a customer for not redoing my order when they realized they made the...
Read moreMy husband and I have ordered food here 4 times and the last two times have been disappointing. During our third visit I ordered the biryani because I loved it so much during our first visit. However, the biryani was very different than I remembered. It had a sauce that was almost like a stew which contained carrots and green beans -neither of which I remembered the first time. While it tasted ok, it wasn't something I wanted to order a second time. During this most recent visit, my husband ordered the chicken korma platter which left him still hungry afterwards. The serving size seemed incredibly small. I ordered the palak paneer and only learned after picking up the order and coming home that you have to order the rice separately. This was not clear to me on grubhub and I assume the only reason I didn't realize this when I ordered paneer at a previous visit is because we ordered via phone and were probably asked if we wanted rice with it. I think this issue could be cleared up if the menu on their website was complete (agreed to grubhub) and clearly stated what sides did or did not come...
