This place is awful. I would never recommend this place to anyone.
I went to eat here with my boyfriend yesterday and the experience was terrible. We were recommended here but I guess the quality had went down. We both love sushi, eat at ayce sushi places all the time but we left disappointed and still hungry.
The appetizers we ordered had no flavor. The fish did not seem fresh, it was dry and not like anything we have eaten before. My bf had asked me if it looked clean. I could go on and on. The more we ordered, the more dissatisfied we were.
We were forcing ourselves to eat but I was thinking whatever it’s lunch time. My mistake was not reading that the dinner price was all weekend, so when the bill came we paid $84 with tax and tip.
I decided to talk to the receptionist about my experience and the quality of the food. The ONLY nice thing about this restaurant was the receptionist who listened and was very sweet. She called the manager and explained, they tried to give me a credit but I didn’t want to come back.
At that point I was I was fine with leaving. I was nice about it, calm and wanted to let them know instead of writing a review. Since I work as a manager, I would think they would appreciate me coming to them instead of writing a review. Nope, that all went downhill.
The manager called the server over on the phone, he didn’t even come alone. He came over with 2 other servers, asking “what’s wrong??” All 3 of them were all in my face. I told the server he did great so it had nothing to do with him. It wasn’t until a man came over there asking me why I kept saying that the fish isn’t fresh. They get it fresh daily. I told them idk if it was just today but all of our fish were dry and I told them the rice was dry as well. He was offended that I said it wasn’t good, asked me if the food wasn’t good why are all the customers in here? He proceeded to run over and grab a place of rice. You could clearly see water splattered on the rice to make it moist. He kept saying “try it” shoving it in my face. He then takes some and eats it and shoves it to the server to try it in front of me. I asked the receptionist why are they doing all of that? I wasn’t trying to make a scene.
It was so unnecessary and I felt EXTREMELY disrespected. The crazy part was that man was the OWNER. I ended up leaving, crying in anger. They took offense to everything I said and was rude. As a big foodie, this was by far the WORSE experience I’ve ever had at...
Read moreWe love sushi and the reviews were good somehow so we decided to try this place out. Make sure you pay attention to the price for weekends. You will be charged dinner price for weekends even if you’re there for lunch. Our server lacked to mention that to us and wasnt nice enough to let us know what we’re paying for so we did not know we can order from the dinner section until after we were almost done eating even though we were paying for dinner price. Unacceptable. Also the people standing at the host stand when you enter doesn’t even bother to greet you when you come in. They kind of just look at you like you’ve asked them for a favor while they’re in the middle of something and won’t say anything to you until you break the awkward silence and tell them how many people you’re with. Not welcoming and kind of awkward. No basic knowledge of hospitality & they absolutely hate their jobs.
As far as the sushi rolls, they make sure to make them 80% rice and less fish as possible so it just feels like you’re eating slightly fish flavored mouth full of plain rice. I’m guessing it is a technique they use to get you full as soon as possible so you can eat less and leave. It also mentions on the menu that if you leave any rice you will be charged extra because “it is part of sushi”. Kind of ridiculous.
Sashimi is only available for dinner, and it is very very small. It also doesn’t help that they only let you order 2 pieces at a time. So the 2 pieces of sashimi is eaten in under a minute, and you won’t be seeing your server for at least another 20 minutes to order 2 more pieces. It seemed like that was another tactic to make sure people didnt order the sashimi too much. They make sure to give inattentive service so you can’t order what you want when you want. Overall it felt like you just ate a whole bunch of low quality rice after eating here. Was it worth $70 for 2 people? Absolutely not. After all if something feels like it’s too good to be true, then it probably is. Definitely won’t be back. Don’t waste your time. Place needs some serious improvement on food quality and need new front of...
Read moreI hate what I'm about to say, but I need to say it:
Sushi Oishii has the best California roll I've ever had.
I'm not a fan of California rolls. They are boring yet needlessly busy, which typically makes them bland. Not here. The seaweed was higher quality and thicker than what I was used to (I only eat them because my wife always orders them wherever we go, yet she never eats all of them). The roll had a delicate umami with a satisfying cronch, and she even remarked that it had real crab. Regardless of authenticity, the crab may have had some tempura, which is always welcome (edit: so I am dumb, it was in fact imitation crab and with no tempura, verified upon my second visit). Seriously, I've never had a basic-ass Cali roll that I've enjoyed. It wasn't over-riced either.
The sashimi (edit: again, I am dumb, I meant to say "nigiri" and not "sashimi" here) was nice, too: a generous slab of fresh fish bolstered by a small pillow of perfectly seasoned rice. My mom and I each ordered a bowl of chicken fried rice. It was an excellent example of what Japanese steakhouse fried rice tastes like. It even had bean sprouts and a little ramakin of yum yum sauce on the side. We started with miso soups and house salads for the three of us. They were mid, but they're supposed to be. Besides, what kinda nerd goes to AYCE Sushi to get soup and salad? Keep your eye on the prize! You're here for quantity. We never got a chance to order drinks because, as packed as the place was, they were moving product and people! The water was enough. My wife and mom can rarely sit still through a meal without libations, but either the food was good or I was on my best behavior.
It was far from the best and/or most unique sushi I've ever had, but the dinner was well-executed with no problems. It's definitely above Kura in terms of the quality of ingredients. The bill totaled $130: $33 a head, plus tax and a rounded-off tip. Our server even brought the ladies a rose each for Valentine's Day. We absolutely will be going back.
