Food is 3.7 out of 5. I give one star because of the attitude their waiters have. I live in city, we used to drive there back than when this place was not bought out by Sahi Nihari, i dont remember the old name as im writing this review. Iv been there few times after its bought by Sahi Nihari. I used to go with friends, or sometime when im around that neighborhood i stopped by there. I dint really care about the service back then or iv never noticed their service since we always go in group and busy talking. This time i went with my friends and families. We were gonna wait since one of our friend wasnt there yet. But one of the host/waiter asked us if we would like to pick table and sit down. Nice of that he noticed customers waiting in lobby. After couple minutes of us sitting on table he came with pen and paper to ask what we wanna order. We explained that one of our friend is literally 5 mins away and give us couple more minutes before we order appetizer. It was too quick. Then he replied saying you should have told me that your not ready i would have let you wait in lobby area. First place we never say anything to any of the restaurant staff we knew our friend is running little late, it was him who stepped up and ask us to have sit on dinning table. It was very straight forward him saying that to all of us. Second, one of their dish was felt half cooked, i said that to my friend. Then he said my wife just whispered me that. I suck at rating food, i eat anything. So now its confirmed that something was wrong in that order. We asked waiter to check it out or get it extra cooked he refused saying i gave same item from same batch to next table and they dint complain. Third, once you order, order arrives, thats it. No one would come back to check on your table to see if you need anything. You have to either stand up and catch one of them or go to front counter. Good luck stopping a waiter to ask something because theres no one really assign for that type of service. They either be serving tables, cleaning whatever they scheduled to do. But i dint really see a person checking on customers to see if they need anything. I wouldnt mind going back again since i like few of their dishes and of course french fry still same from day one. I would not go with family. I would not recommend unless if you are very patient and wouldnt mind...
Read moreFirst of all, I don't want anybody to underrate this one star. If I had an option, I wouldn't give this place any star at all. I have never ever been to a place with such unwelcoming, rude and ill mannered staff. From servers to manager, all of them were extremely rude.
I went to this place with my uncle after skipping a perfectly fine option of Sabri Nihari on Devon (GOD KNOWS WHY), wanting to try something new. This place had decent rating with mixed reviews. Our order can be seen on the receipt I posted. Firstly, in my entire eating out experience, I have very rarely, almost never, had seen a server change in the middle of the dining experience. The person who took our order, Ismail, was given specific instructions to have our naans cooked well 'cause we don't like it when we have literally white naans that aren't baked well. The person who brought the order to our table was Sohail (yes, not the person who actually took our order) who got us the type of naans that we DID NOT order, i.e. uncooked naan. At this point, we hadn't gotten our garlic naans. We asked him to take the naans back as we specifically asked to have them cooked well. He took them back and after a bit, got us the totally overcooked (almost burnt) regular naans and half raw garlic naan. We called this Sohail guy back and asked him about the garlic naan to which he replied, "That's how we do it here." To which we replied, "You mean you make it raw and can't cook it properly?" To which he said, "Well, it will get burned" ..... Then my uncle had to literally squish the raw part out for him which was literally gooey like the dough before it's baked. He reluctantly took it back and came back a minute later just cutting out the part that was raw. My uncle thanked him to which he did not respond and just left. He was so discourteous and I have no clue how they hire such unprofessional staff!!!! This was just the naan but the rest of the food was pretty awful too. The karahi gosht was the worst I had ever had as it was plain and bland tasting and my uncle literally had to empty a pepper shaker over it to get some taste out of it. The nihari was okay but did not enjoy it at all 'cause of the mediocre naans. Don't go there, literally a wastage...
Read moreThis review is specifically for their buffet. You definitely get delicious wholesome food for the amount you pay. The food is very tasty and excels in quality and variety compared to other restaurants that charge the same price. There were a good amount of meat dishes. Not only was there desi food, but the buffet even had chinese cuisine. In addition to the standard included beverages such as chai, lassi, and ruaza, they offered cans of soda. This restaraunt does not shy away from incorporating amazing dishes and ensures that you can get the most bang for your buck. Majority of the food items were amazing heavy hitters such as nihari, biriyani, and kabobs. There was not a single dull food item there. Not even one. They were also pretty consistent with efficiently refilling the food. I was there with my friends and family. We all enjoyed it and left satisfied as it was time well spent. For these reasons, it is my humble opinion that Shahi Nihari provides a superior/exceptional buffet. The only reason I'm not giving it a full 5 stars is because I think there is room for improvement on their customer service. I approached an employee. He was an older gentleman. I asked him if a can of soda would still be available to which he responded no. They were pretty much wrapping up the buffet at that point so it was understandable. Then he said I could go to the front and buy one. I went to the front end to grab it from the mini fridge and as i was reaching for it, the cashier acknowledged me. I told him id like to purchase the can. Then the older gentleman comes over to the front telling him multiple times to charge me for the can of pop. It almost felt as if he was thinking i was going to take it without paying. Sir, I'm not going to steal your precious can of soda. In hindsight it may not be a big deal and i didn't take it super personally but at the same time it was definitely awkward. Aside from that, the...
