first off, a little back info. we work night shift so it's when we aren't in the mood for breakfast food or dont want to go across town.. we don't really have many options. sometimes we choose Denny's. it's always a bad choice and always sit at the booth waiting... and thinking "why did we do this again?"
The whole staff seems unorganized and walking around aimlessly and seems to take much longer than it should. unless you're part of the "older regular group". they treat the other customers as if they aren't as important and the wait is much longer due to staff chatting with the regs. this isn't the first time we have had this issue, we come here at least twice a month. it happens every time.
today our waitress was Inez , whose name tag says she is some sort of manager so we thought it might be okay. we asked for two ice waters with lemon, loaded season fries to start off with. what we got was water and half a lemon in each glass, and my fries were not loaded. she then took our order also an easy one. sriracha burger with loaded seasoned fries, and a Caesar salad add onion and cucumber. dressing on the side. after about 20 minutes the food arrived after staring at it on the counter for at least 5-10 minutes. once again fries weren't loaded and no onion on a very wilted salad. my girlfriend ended up just picking through it honestly. my burger was warm but otherwise fine. Inez came by the table a total of 5 times. (drinks, bring drinks and order food, bring food, bring refill and check.) I don't usually complain about not seeing the waitress much but this time, it was like we were banished to the corner to be forgotten. watching all the other tables receive decent service and nothing even comparable at ours.
overall service sucks, food is mediocre at best and when it's correct. this trip took us 45 minutes to an hour when we were hoping on a quick trip. the one bright star there is a waitress named Gladis(sp). she is probably the oldest waitress there but always gets our food correct, attentive but not too much, and she obviously picks up other staffs slack. today we watched her go to the counter grab two plates of food and take them to the other servers table, in which she was standing around talking. Gladis can seem a little blunt at times but damn does she get it right. finally the only reason you should be going to this Denny's is if you're apart of the regulars , drunk after leaving the bars at 4am, or you don't know any better. even then you're drunk go home, if you don't know any better then do yourself a favor a go to WD's(Washington ave) for a great burger, or old thyme diner for a better breakfast...
Read moreMy brother and I walked in and were advised that there would be an hour wait for food as the shift manager had had a personal emergency and had to leave. There were two servers, a dishwasher, and a cook. We sat and passed the time and in due course our food got to us. Despite the fact that the staff was seriously overloaded, the food was exactly what we ordered and tasted exactly as it should have. While we sat there, the cook walked out mid-shift, the stress was just too much for him. This left the two servers, Norma and Chelsea, to handle everything while the dishwasher dealt with the mountain of dishes and helped out where he could. Both servers tried to call the GM and left voicemails. After that their calls were met with the beeping that indicated the GM had turned off their phone. (We were seated close to the kitchen and could hear all of this.) Norma ran back and forth between the kitchen and the tables while Chelsea was also working tables and hostess. It was an absolute madhouse, but through it all, Chelsea maintained a calm and polite demeanor and Norma was the very picture of grace under fire. Read moreNegative Stars.... after my daughter's baptism, we told her she could pick where we eat, and she chose Denny's. Upon entering, there were only about 6 or so customers already seated, and there was no line. The waitress was taking an order at a table, so we continued to wait. She finished and put in their order ( several times she had looked at us). Another couple came in shortly after us. After about 10 minutes, they left with no service. After almost 15-20 minutes of no service (not even being seated), we left and will most definitely never visit again. From the looks of it, there were only 2 people in the kitchen and only 1 waitress. My daughter was very sad and disappointed due to having this experience, not to mention me. I informed her that we would not support a store or business that has customer service like that. The waitress looked over at us, waiting to be seated several times, but never said anything. She instead tidied and cleaned the prep station, and then the fountain drink machine, and then talked with other customers that were already seated and had clearly already been served.
