My family and I had the pleasure of dining at Basilico Pizzeria & Ristorante on May 31, 2023, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. Atmosphere: The ambiance at Basilico was warm and inviting. The interior design was well done, with a modern design on an old school pizzeria. The lighting was perfect, creating a relaxed and comfortable environment. Service: The staff at Basilico was incredibly friendly and attentive. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and staff immediately acknowledged our toddler who was excited to be there. Our server (I’m terrible with names, but she had purple hair!) was enthusiastic and friendly. The service was prompt, and we never felt rushed. Our server was attentive, our beverages refilled without having to ask. Food: We ordered the garlic knots and “The Cured,” pizza, which was essentially a meat lovers. Each dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The garlic knots were amazing, and I daresay, have dethroned what I had considered the best knots before. They were a generous size, and were absolutely fresh. The pizza had a perfectly crispy crust, with a generous portion of the meats spread throughout, but not so much that they weighed the slice down. My family is from NYC, and I know a good pizza, and I must say, in just one visit, Basilico may have just become my favorite pizza spot in Hampton Roads. The portion sizes were just right, leaving us satisfied but not overly full. Value for Money: Basilico offers excellent value for money. The prices are reasonable, especially considering the high quality of the food and the generous portions. Their happy hour prices on the food were amazing and they have great specials that my wife and I will return for and try. We felt that every dollar spent was well worth it for the experience we had. Overall Experience: We truly enjoyed our time here, starting with the warm entrance, all the way to the end, where our toddler tried to make a great escape through the parking lot. The food was great, the server was warm and friendly, and the atmosphere was inviting. I highly recommend Basilico Pizzeria & Ristorante to anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience. We will definitely be returning soon!

We loved our first time here! When we first walked in, we were greeted by a friendly face and directed to sit where we wanted. Their sweet tea was really good. It's not too sweet and not overly brewed. We started off with a Caesar salad and garlic knots. We used to order garlic knots from a place for years, but after Covid cases increased and businesses weren't doing well, our favorite place went downhill on their food quality. 😒 The garlic knots here are on point! I'm coming back just for that. The first bite has a nice crunch texture to it, but inside of the knot, it is soft and airy. I love garlic, and they toss it in a generous amount of garlic. I created my own Stromboli, and my husband had the lasagna. The portion sizes were very generous. My Stromboli was so yummy. The dough was nice and golden. Please see pics. Hubby said he'd order the lasagna again. Lastly, we took canolis to go. I haven't tried it yet but when I do I'll be sure to review. I'm still stuffed from the Stromboli!! I have leftovers for lunch and dinner again.

Second time for dinner. Both times, five stars. This time, had the Mini Arancini as an appetizer, with Chicken Francese. Wife had the Lobster Ravioli. The Arancini were very creamy inside and were nested in an amazing Bolognese sauce. The Francese came with a choice of rigatoni or capellini (angel hair) pasta. Chose the capellini. It was cooked just right and tasted great mixed with the Francese lemon/wine sauce. The chicken was lightly breaded and moist. The lobster was very good. The cream sauce was not heavy. The portions are enough for a meal and another at home. Unfortunately, the restaurant was out of Montepulciano wine. We had it our first time there. We ordered the Cabernet. Not a fan of Cabernet, but this was good. Not too dry. Ordered a pistachio cannoli to go. The owner recommended three smaller cannoli instead of one large one, since we were having it with coffee at home. It was nice of her to provide the "to go" order that way. Nice place to get a meal and close to the Oceana Commissary/ Exchange.

If you want the best pizza you’ve ever had, you’ve got to try this place!! We ordered 3 different pizzas (fried egg plant, NY style pepperoni, and a combination). We also ordered Fettuccine Alfredo, and a chicken sandwich. We ordered an appetizer of knots. Every item was so good, and I’d dare say that every bite was as good as the last. The flavors of the entree’s were amazing including all three pizzas. Their pizza sauce was the pinnacle of the flavor. It is made fresh twice a day. The sauce is packed with the perfect Italian style pizza flavor. They make their own pizza sauce every 4 hours. The combination pizza almost had too many flavors on one pizza. Usually you get a combo pizza to take away from the inadequacy of the pizza sauce and bread. At Basilico, you look forward to the crust and the sauce. The pizza is cooked to perfection. They cook the bottom to create a perfect crisp layer to keep it from becoming soggy but it gives you the sweet carmel flavor you look forward too. Then the middle of the pizza crust is cooked to be soft but with the right pull, delicately chewy. The top of the pizza holds all the flavor, with the right mixture of toppings and right amount of sauce. If you want the perfect real Italian pizza you’ve got to try this place. Every pizza you eat after this will not compare. The pizza is an experience you’ll never forget. The Alfredo sauce was creamy and buttery with only the highest ingredients. This makes the Alfredo sauce such that your wanting to come back for the next bite. Your stomach never feels heavy nor does your mouth feel oily. It’s a perfect combination of ingredients and flavors that complement each other perfectly. The chicken sandwich was the perfect combination of soft moist chicken with the right amount of bread to chicken to greens ratio and with the right amount of balsamic and olive oil. It truly was a delight to eat each and every bite. The bread was so delicious, soft and chewy with the right amount of flavor and texture. The bread completed the insides. It too, held up to the oil and vinegar, keeping its form and function, not getting soggy or breaking apart throughout the eating process. The bread had the right amount of chew and soft texture. I usually don’t like egg plant on anything but I was pleasingly surprised with the burst of flavors that fried egg plant pizza had. For now that was my favorite pizza, second was the NY style pizza. We took a ‘take out menu’ home to study the other options that were available so that we could be ready to go back and try out the other options. I’m excited to go back and try out other pizza and entree’s. If I lived here I’d probably frequent this place at least once a month. I’m not kidding when I say that I for sure would not eat any other pizza than the ones made at Basilico. Nothing...

My husband and I were referred by a friend. We decided to celebrate our anniversary there. We arrived when they opened at 4:00 p.m. so the appetizer we thought we would order was not yet ready, it takes an hour to prepare, since they just opened it was not yet complete. That was NO PROBLEM, Kelly (who was awesome) made a substitution for us, and it did not disappoint. My husband ordered the veal saltimbocca (Kelly reviewed the pasta options that went with it and what each was one) and he chose the capellini. I ordered the lobster ravioli. The portions were WELL worth the price!! HONEST. AS IF we needed any more food, we decided to order some pizza (oops, pizza's) to go. I am not a red sauce girl so finding a white pizza (other than the basics) is hard. I decided on the Toscano (look it up, if you're a white pizza person it is definitely not your "average" white pizza). My husband chose the Giardino (again, look it up, I have never had a pizza with eggplant on it). Although we have not had them yet Kelly told us how to re-heat them so they would be as good as when we ordered them. I was in the restroom when we were given dessert, so I can't tell you what it was (hopefully, Kelly reads the review and tells everyone what it was). It was presented beautifully (actually, everything was) I did hear she made it herself!! I wish I would have taken pictures. Sorry for the long review, but I guess you can tell we enjoyed the experience! The portion size/service was worth every $$$$. We...
