We came in to celebrate a birthday, and things started off great! The vibe was lively, the music was fun, and even my 86-year-old grandmother came in dancing. The appetizers were excellent—especially the crab dip, which was phenomenal. We also tried the calamari, wings, and salmon bites. While tasty, the portions for the calamari and salmon bites were overpriced. My strawberry lemon drop was also a highlight—delicious!
Unfortunately, things went downhill after we ordered our entrées. There were issues with nearly everyone’s plate, and the service was frustratingly slow. Despite being a party of eight and the only group in the restaurant aside from three people at the bar, our food came out in trickles—one plate at a time with a 5-7 minute wait between each.
I ordered the fried Mahi Mahi with sautéed spinach and risotto, but after waiting over an hour, I ended up canceling it because it never arrived. My son’s Cajun pasta with oxtail was another disappointment—the oxtail was tough and served cold, like it had just come out of the fridge. Another person in our group ordered a well-done burger, which came out pink in the middle, and the fries were not fresh. For the amount of time we waited, the food should have arrived steaming hot, but that was far from the case.
The DJ added to the frustration. When we arrived, the music was great—90s hip hop and R&B. But once the DJ started, the playlist shifted to newer rap songs that didn’t suit the occasion or the audience, especially with two elders at our table. To top it off, when it came time to celebrate the birthday, he played 2 Chainz’s "Birthday Song" ("All I want for my birthday is a big booty hoe"). It was completely inappropriate for the setting and showed a lack of awareness. I even had to point out the elders at our table to him.
While the atmosphere initially seemed promising, the poor service, food issues, and mismatched music selection left us disappointed. If you’re just stopping by for drinks, a good appetizer, and some music without going to a club, this place might work for you. But for a full dining experience? No, thank you.
