Dairy Queen Grill & Chill — Restaurant in Virginia Beach

I normally look for opportunities to hit up this Dairy Queen since it is close to me, and my experiences are normally positive. Not today's visit. The window service was ok. She seemed confused with my transaction, but probably because I paid in exact change cash, $13.37, and she was handling a customer ordering at the same time. It was the food and price that were disappointing. I ordered the 4 piece chicken strip combo with a drink. I was generally aware of the price of the combo, but I will note that it is a significant increase from several months ago. Whether it's from general inflation or increasing operation costs or higher wages that are part of the state's economy, I don't know. The food was the biggest disappointment. For the cost, I was expecting larger strips. Both the fries and strips were barely warm at best and quickly became cold. The bottom line is that the food was not worth $13.37. Fantastic experience here! I came to get my BOGO blizzard for my Birthday and this was the first time going to this location. The people working were outstanding! A gentleman in front of me was having some difficulty choosing what he wanted but the person at the register was professional and really helpful! He was really good with me as well. Most notable, a gentleman had two little girls just after my order. I listened to a very entertaining conversation he had with his kids. Apparently so did the cashier. He brought out some change for the little girls to try the donation coin drop that they had asked their dad about. Just a great thing to see these days, someone doing a great job and doing extra. Aside from that my blizzards were great and the person who brought them out to me was equally nice! I just enjoyed the whole experience and it was also nice to go into a DQ. Our usual location is drive and walk up only. I'd definitely recommend stopping by this location! Wish I had taken names to remember...

Upset to have write this, usually a nice experience with Dairy Queen, but today was not the best. First issue were the fries were WAY over salted! We tried to deal and just eat them anyways, but they were uneatable. When we requested new fries, staff did agree to make fresh new ones no problem. That should have been enough to fix the experience….well while dining we could hear what we believe to be the Manager talking to his staff and he said loud enough for the restaurant to hear, and I quote: “Do you have your head set on? Is it working? Is your brain working? That’s a legit question.” I could not believe he spoke to his staff like that! That was completely uncalled for and so rude! It was not in a joking manner at all, just down right disrespectful. I don’t care if your food or prices are good, the way management treats staff is the most important and that was enough to ruin my whole experience there! That manager should be ashamed!
