the food is 5 star for bbq - most especially the brisket. they have two types, regular and "fatty". I'm a fan of the fatty (its a keto thing) and twice now I've been gipped by one of the youts working behind the counter. once before he gave me the dregs which were dry and stringy....and comes from the end of the open slab of meat. I complained and Dave quickly wrote back apologizing and offered a free lb of brisket on my next visit. I did not complain to benefit in some way so I turned him down and thanked him for his gracious offer. well it happened again yesterday October 25th when I sent my wife to get me a brisket platter for lunch. from the youts description it was the same counter service person who again gave me the end section and it had maybe 25% of the normal fatty brisket in one slice and the second slice was the end piece and it had zero. this won't stop me from going back cause the brisket is best of the 300+ bbq's I've gone to.....and by far at that. I just wish Dave could properly educated this sub-par worker who apparently doesn't seem to care about what his customers want. all he had to do was turn 180 degrees, walk one step, pick out a new slab and cut it in the middle and give me what I asked for. Which he would be doing anyway on his very next brisket order.......but he CHOSE not to. Dave, I for one have had two sub-par brisket servings now, 70% of which went in the disposal. you can reach out for details if you like and maybe properly train this person to take care of...
Read moreIve been going by this place for weeks before 11am and have never been able to stop because they werent open, however today i waited outside for 35 minutes to eat here.
So i ordered the Rib Tip Platter comes with 2 sides i got corn bread and baked beans.
The plus was that the portion was absolutely huge for $6 and i couldnt eat it all in 2 settings.
The part i was upset about after looking forward to eating here and waiting 35 mins outside to open, was that the baked beans had a taste that i could only take 1 bite of them, the Rib Tips looked great but the taste was just not good, the seasoning and the sauce on them were just nasty, i hate writing bad reviews and i had very high hopes and really looked forward to eating at this place the corn bread and the pepsi was the only thing i could eat out the whole platter, ima wipe as much as the sauce off an see if my dog will eat them if she dont then that speaks volumes. I should have got the bbq sandwich i dont know if it has the same taste as the baked beans or the rib tips and i however would like to try the bbq sandwich i dont think ill be stopping by to try it due to my experience this time after waiting awhile outside for them to open and then trying the food and not being able to eat it. So that's my review on the rib tip platter , however all the other items might be good idk this is the only thing ive tried and wasnt impressed with the...
Read moreWhile vacationing, we visited based on a YouTube blogger’s recommendation. Otherwise, we probably wouldn’t have ever stopped. This place is a literal hidden “hole in the wall.”
I’ll start with the good and say the food was some of the best bbq we’ve had. Large portions, good sides (I don’t understand the negative reviews of the sides), baked beans were full of flavor, potato salad was good, though I like a little more “stuff” in mine, and my son said the green beans were well seasoned. Really liked the smoked chicken salad, which is something you don’t see every day.
We felt like the guys working were annoyed by us or just weren’t overly friendly and welcoming. I mean, they weren’t unfriendly or rude either…Maybe we stood out as newbies and not knowing what we wanted annoyed them. I don’t know. That was just our impression. They seemed to know the regulars coming in and were friendly with them.
Oh, and the sweet sauce in the big bottle on the tables was EXCELLENT. Never had a sauce quite like it, but it really added a nice zing to the meats.
The prices are very reasonable for bbq, the quality, and the portions.
Overall, other than the service issue, a great little “hole...
