( before you read please review all low star reviews. To see how the owner never accepts responsibility for the service, food quality or anything for that matter but rather grossly attacks anyone who did not like his food or have a good experience.)not one bad review has he apologized or accepted responsibility for his terrible food or rude staff. The young lady Lucy was super nice when taking my order over the phone!!! However when I arrived several servers seen me come in and ignored me for quite some time not even a nod or hello to acknowledge my presence, when a young heavy set Latino server whom also made eye contact when I arrived but waited….. finally came over. He greeted me in a dismissive manner as if I was coming in to ask for a restroom, or sell restaurant equipment or maybe even rob themšŸ¤·šŸ½ā€ā™‚ļø. I told him I had a call in order, but I then I realized he had actually turned his attention to the white gentleman who was coming through the door (obviously more important then me and my awkward waitšŸ¤¦šŸ½ā€ā™‚ļø). After mispronounced my simple to say name (he was Latino American he had no accent so he knew) he grabbed my bag and took my money after he wrote an essay on my $100 bill with the counterfeit verification marker looking up at me ever so often to make sure I was paying attention to his performance of verifying my $100 bill he dramatically placed my $65 in change which he also ā€œmas verifiedā€ on the counter in another one of his dramatic performance’s and walked away this time dramatically fast in an effort to let me know what only other people of color like me will understand . Usually I don’t write these in great detail I only do it to let my people of color and those who like to spend their money at places that treat all people equally where not to spend your hard earned money. I’ve worked to hard and given so much back my community to be disrespected in a business owned and operated by people of color and this particular group does it the worse šŸ¤¦šŸ½ā€ā™‚ļø. I will not be returning and spreading the word.I love Mexican food but I’m not paying for the extra side of disrespect anymore!!! I give bad reviews to racist businesses similar to this one and I also look for similar issues in others reviews especially when the owners respond to every negative feedback with aggression and blaming the customers like this one clearly does. Take ownership and responsibility for your employees behavior instead of combating customers who didn’t have a good experience. Just go to Senor Fox where they treat every customer the same!!!!

This restaurant opened on October 5, 2020 and is located where the Applebee's used to be on General Booth Blvd. From the beginning of the year until opening, you could see them working on getting the place set up and built, inside and out, even during a pandemic. My first visit here was on October 5, 2020 (opening day). If you were in here when it was still Applebee's years ago, the setup in here was very similar, with the bar in the middle of the restaurant and seating all around. The dƩcor inside is good as well. We came in around 4 pm that day, so it wasn't that busy at the time and were immediately greeted when we came in and then seated. Like most other Mexican restaurants, within seconds of being seated, someone came over with chips, salsa, and white sauce. Our server, who was Sofia, came over just after that. She introduced herself and asked us for our drink orders. We both went with tea. After bringing the drinks, she asked if we were ready to order, but weren't quite ready yet for entrƩes, but we did order a cheese dip appetizer. A few minutes later, our server came over with the cheese dip and we were ready to order. I ended up going with the Burrito Loco with Chicken and my mom ordered the Chimichangas (soft) with beef. About 8 to 10 minutes later, our orders came to the table. The food looked good and it was hot. The Burrito Loco was really good and had some good flavor to it as well. My mom enjoyed her chimichangas as well. We were both definitely full by the time we were done. Overall, we had a great experience on opening day. The food and service were great and will definitely visit in the future. I do want to note that I asked if they take competitor coupons like some other Mexican restaurants in the area and they said they do not. If you are in the General Booth and Dam Neck area of Virginia Beach and looking for a Mexican place, this place is worth checking out.

One word "amazing". I'll be a more detailed review below, but for tldr Food 10/10, service 10/10, drinks 10/10, decor 10/10, building/cleanliness 10/10. Must visit, my highest recommendation and review I've given thus far. OK now for my more detailed review. We ordered the Mocajete and chorizo Pollo soft tacos and sopapillas for desert. The Mocajete was incredible, the cauldron was gigantic, and filled to the brim with meat, perfected seasoned 5inch steak strips, chicken and soft sweet cactus. The chorizo pollo tacos were hearty flavorful, and the sauce had just the right amount of kick. The sopapillas were fluffy crunchy and sweet. The presentation overall was amazing. The service was on point, our drinks never went unfilled, and our server was always around to check on us and our enjoyment. The building interior was so nice, very fancy and well laid out, the bar section was incredible, lighting, and booths were top notch, and menus well laid out. Finally the exterior was very neat with a large stone entryway. In closing an incredible experience and a place I suggest everyone try once.

I ordered the burrito bowl and our waiter said he would put the cheese on the side for me, great. Dinner came no cheese on the side. I ask our waiter where's the cheese, he said it on there, Ok I had my husband and son look at my dinner, No cheese on it. So then he brings over some cheese and when the bill comes they charge me extra $2.75 we call him over and he saids there was cheese on there, and we explained to him, that you said you'd put it on the side. He called manager over, he saids I'll check the cameras...I'm like really. So manager comes over like 20 minutes later and arguing with us saying that there was cheese on it...No there wasn't, why did your employee say he'd put it on the side...manager comes back, like I said longer time trying to remove extra charge on the bill. We paid it for it so we could leave, but only because we waited so long to get out. The waiter when we spoke to him, while talking he walked away from us with his back towards us...while talking. So started off bad in beginning. We have given this place too many chances. No more chances. You have literally lost our business. Good luck on that waiter. Your waiter was the worst we have ever had, there are great waiters there. And our waiter said he saw the cook put cheese on it, my husband called him out, saying you were waiting on other tables, so how did you see that, he couldn't say a word. šŸ˜…šŸ¤£ he was the rudest waiter...
