First time at a Habit Burger which is a newer business located on the Virginia Beach Blvd. The chain was established in Irvine, CA.
The building was previously occupied by Boston Market. The signage is excellent by the road and on the building.
Parking on a weekday just before noon was adequate. However, the lot had debris. The walk up was clear of trash.
Once you enter you have the option of the kiosk to order, or by staff at the counter. I elected to head to the counter with no line. The menu board is easy to read and is quite expansive.
I elected to get the burger voted #1 and made it a combo. The award-winning double burger topped with caramelized onions, crisp lettuce, fresh tomato, pickles, and mayo on a toasted bun. I added cheese. It comes with ranch on the side. For a side I got a mix of fries and onion rings. The fountain drinks are self serve Pepsi. The staff person smiled and was friendly. I got a buzzer to get my food.
The total was $20+ with a small gratuity. I later found out they do not deliver the food, or bus. She in my opinion they should not have it set up for tips. However, the upfront service was nice.
The dining room was pretty empty at around 1130 AM. It ls large and was clean. With all the windows it has great lighting. There is some wall decor. I liked it.
It took around 15 minutes to get my food, that's a long time for fast food. I know they are new, so no complaints. The manager that provided the hand off was professional and smiled. By this time there was a line at the door.
So let's get to the food. First the side. The fries were lukewarm and no flavor. The onion rings were hot and pretty good. The burger visually looked good. It comes half wrapped. It took me a few bites to come to a final conclusion, and I did not care for it. There was an odd flavor. I don't necessarily think it was the char, but could be wrong. Maybe the toppings were not working for me. In any event the flavor was not positive. This was disappointing, but the burger was absolutely edible and I pushed through. The Doctor Pepper fountain drink was great!
This was actually a difficult experience to rate. I felt a 2 star was too harsh, but a 3 might seem like it's ok. I'm really a 2.5, rounding up. I likely would not return, but if I did try...
Read moreThis place is pretty good, but just ok. Me and a friend split the food so we could each sample the offerings. The food we tried was a regular charburger, crispy chicken sandwich, chicken bites, fries, sweet potato fries and tempura green beans.
The burger was good, I would compare it to a better tasting whopper. But isn’t good enough to make me pick it over Wendy’s or McDonald’s burger. But still good enough to not be disappointed. It’s also a long way off from being better than Five Guys.
The crispy chicken sandwich was just bad in every way. It tasted like grease and bread. I honestly couldn’t taste the chicken or any of toppings on it.
Chicken bites were probably my favorite. It reminds me of home cooked country fried chicken. Where you bread the chicken in crushed crackers instead of flour & egg. With it I tried their ranch, BBQ, and boom sauce. All 3 were really good.
The sweet potato fries were also pretty good. Standard fair for the most part. No cinnamon/sugar, just plain fries. The regular fries were just bland. Not bad but not great either. Not a fri that stands on its own. You need ketchup or something to make ‘em somewhat enjoyable.
Lastly, the tempura green beans. The most curious item to me. Overall, not bad. I grew up on a farm and am kind of a fresh produce snob. You do get that farm fresh green bean taste and with a good crunch. The only complaint that is unavoidable is the times where you take a bite and get the grease that has found its way in.
The service was prompt, professional, and fast. Overall, I think it’s a good spot. But nothing really grabbed me and makes me want to revisit over other local offerings.
Oh, and try the strawberry lime aid. That was amazing and is really the only thing...
Read moreI order to through the mobile app. around 6:50pm. I was told they'd be ready at 7:12 PM. Go through the window to be told that it's not ready yet. I was told to pull over to a parking space and they would bring it to me. I waited and waited, Nobody came out. No messages were on my phone. So at 745pm I decided to go in the building and find out where my food is. By that time I'm pissed off so much that I don't even want it. I want my money back. I told the manager I wanted my money back. Says oh well, we already have to get your information and send it to corporate before I could do anything. Where the hell did that come from? Since when can you not put the damn money back your credit card? I never got an apology or any kindness how can I? Make it better? Nothing employee brought the food over to the counter. I said that that was my period I says to want my money back and she couldn't help me. Also, when ordering, I was gonna get a milkshake and was told they were unavailable. Then never once did I get a message that my food was ready. Just in the beginning when I ordered the food, it said it would be ready by 7:12 PM. I asked for napkins they put one napkin on top of the tempura avocado so of course, it soaked up the grease. Cause the one napkin was on top of it. The food probably would have been really good if it was hot and I wasn't pissed off. This was my second trip. The first time was pretty good. I liked the Green Beans, but they were very salty. Otherwise they were good. The food doesn't make up for their lousy service. They need to learn some kindness. I will not go back. And I will pass this information on to anybody and everybody I can. Word-of-mouth will stop some...
