Amanda was a phenomenal waitress! Every time we’ve had her we’ve received amazing service. Very accommodating, quick and checks in on us often. Many of the waitresses are just as great however our parties of friends have now been “kicked out” on 2 separate occasions by someone named Hailey (Hailie?) at the VB location. The first time we all ordered our final round of drinks and were approached saying we had reached a 2 hour limit and had to leave (before receiving our drink order). The most recent time we were told there was a 2 hour limit (which we had not met) then it changed to 90 minutes. Members of our party had not yet received their food. During our final drink order we were told we could only order drinks if we also ordered food and we did, but we were told to leave anyway (afree ordering the drinks and food). I understand the location is small, and we were accommodating to this matter. When told our party of 8 and 3 kids was too big, we were denied the opportunity to continue dining with the children in our laps. No other patrons or waitresses seemed to be bothered by our presence except Hailey. So, half of our party went outside in the cold while we waited on our food. Hair of the dog VB Blvd is the only location that my group of friends and I have ever had an issue with as far as party size and time limits. I figured like most restaurants if we are there spending money and consistently ordering food and drinks (which we were) there is no reason to kick us out. Especially when several tables near us were empty and one of which was even offered to us to seat our additional guests.
There seems to be a miscommunication amongst workers as far as time limit policies as the waitresses were more than happy to continue serving us while another person was...
Read moreI typically wouldn't leave a review,This restaurant was talked up so graciously to me, I honestly couldn't wait to try the food. I live in Hampton, so it's a bit out of my way. But, I'll travel state to state for food. I chose my meals selectively, yes meals.... I was so DISAPPOINTED to say the least. The menu states cheddar biscuits, which is what I expected, not thick, and extremely dry cornbread, for which they provided a half of an already small container of gravy to accompany these bricks. The grits were hard and looked as if they had been played in, the sauce blah. And to add insult to injury I had my friend return the food, he called first, and was given the impression it would be taken care of. Nope! Because I had been gone an hour, they would not refund my money, nor provide any form of restaurant credit. Oh! And no he wasn't allowed to replace the order for anything else. He definitely would have eaten that himself, because I was not, and will not eat there again. The bartender was efficient, and timely. The drink he made was actually good, and I typically do not like Mimosas, but he recommended it. The experience was nothing to be remembered, I'd like nothing more than to forget it, but I realized I have not eaten all day, as I'm typing this review. It wasn't all bad, but I really believe I should have been compensated correctly, they did get there food back. And in the same unpresentable manner in which I received it. And to top it all off, they took it upon themselves to add a tip. Excuse me, take/ steal additional funds from my credit card two days later for a tip. I could understand if I was with a party of five or more but I wasn't, and it was take-out. What a slap in the...
Read moreUsed to go to this place often, when I lived in the area a few years ago. I'd take and recommend my friends to try it all the time. I'm not sure if they just stopped caring after the pandemic or what! I was in the area and thought I'd order pickup. I got the Chesapeake eggs benedict, which used to be my favorite because of the Mediterranean style, but was sorely disappointed to see that there were no longer any peppers or chickpeas or feta, or spices. Now I wouldn't have minded a simple breakfast, but not for this price!
Decided to try again for a lunch date--we were told their "system is down" when we arrived at 3, and they closed for the day at 4. My boyfriend said the lady was probably just saying that, so we went across the lot to the Chili's instead. We could clearly see their door from our booth. They kept turning folks away, but never put up a closed sign.
We tried a final time, arriving at 2pm. The hostess seemed preoccupied with some co-worker guy chatting her up. We were sat immediately, told our server would be right with us, but then completely ignored. After about 15 minutes, my boyfriend decided it was time to go. There were plenty of people on staff, it wasn't packed, but no one came to offer us drinks or even make eye-contact really. They might as well have just started shouting "not it!" 😂 some staff, like the hostess & friend, were in plain clothes, and I didn't notice any name tags.
When we left, the hostess changed to the same lady that turned us away the other day, so I guess it was time to start lying to folks again, by around 2:30ish. She seemed like a manager, but was also in plain clothes without a name tag, for...
