Such a great experience! We are a family of 4 (me and my husband plus our 2 girls ages 7 and 9) and we selected the Monster Mansion. The room was very nicely setup and lived up to the theme of the story. The room was spooky but not heart stopping scary that will give my girls nightmares (and nothing was jumping out to scare you). This is our first escape room experience and we’ve never heard of it before until I started googling for activities to do in Virginia Beach area. Our game masters were Candice and Elli and they were very nice and patient with us. I love how Candice was talking directly to my girls to explain the story before we started. I feel like my girls did better than me in finding and figuring out stuff since they have more of an eye for spotting clues. The room was a bit dark for me which I definitely understand is part of the ambiance and this is likely not an issue for most. It just made it a bit difficult for me to see things clearly around the room but that’s just me with my vision issues. I really appreciate that Candace was very helpful with hints and clues when asked for them (and we definitely asked for help several times). My girls were extremely happy with the entire experience and have asked to do another room again tomorrow (which we will likely do). We managed to escape the room but we did run out of time but luckily the Candice and Elli allowed us an extra few minutes to finish it because we were so close to finishing. Since my daughters were so involved and engaged in searching and solving the clues, I am so grateful they let us finish so they didn’t feel bad that all their efforts were wasted. The room can accommodate up to 8 adults and I think there are plenty of puzzles to solve such that a group of 8 will still have enough to do for everyone. Thank you Candace and Elli for a truly fun filled experience!!! If you’re considering trying it out, go ahead and do it! Highly...
Read moreI’ve gone here multiple times since my 10 year old son really enjoys the rooms, but this last experience will be our last time here. My son wanted to go here again for his birthday along with his best friend. His friend got sick the day of so his friend couldn’t make it. We made the reservation the day before, but then called the day of once we discovered his friend was sick. I called this place to explain the situation because I’m surely they would understand this was extenuating circumstances. But they would not refund me the $50 for his friend even though we were still paying for myself and son, so still $100 for two people. They proudly cited their policy on the website, even though one less human being in the room makes absolutely no difference to them. We were still going at the set appointment time. Just one less kid. Considering how much money I had spent here in the past and their unwillingness to be flexible on dropping one persons cost when it had no bearing on their cash flow, I won’t be going here again. This is a clear money grab to take advantage of in preventable situations where the number of people in the party changes. Well, any company can have a policy on the website, it doesn’t mean it’s right to take advantage of someone for circumstances out of their control.
Additional complaints: we had an issue with another room where the final piece to find was broken and our group found it broke within 2 mins of starting in the room. We notified the employee but she just blamed us for the incident instead of simply admitting the piece was broken and the room wasn’t setup properly.
Also they will bombard you with emails of coupons for your next visit but the coupons never work. Website doesn’t tell you why, nor is there an expiration for the offer disclosed anywhere in the...
Read moreI do not recommend going to this escape room. Our group did the most difficult room offered. First, the themes. The theme did not matter at all. We were just in a room with the task of finding something. There was no explanation or role playing for the theme. The game master explained the basic rules, and I asked if the room had a one lock, one use operation, meaning that each lock and clue is used only one time. She said that some are used again. This was not the case. Misleading. Second, the room used a mechanism that was known to repeatedly fail. This kept us from actually retrieving the item we were tasked with and completing the run. We technically escaped the room, but none of the satisfaction was there. Why use a mechanism that you know fails repeatedly? It tells me that you don't really care about the customer's experience. Third, when the game master came in when the clock ran out, she didn't fully explain why the last lock wasn't opening. We asked her what the lock's combination was based on, and she said "it's random". This angered me until I realized she meant that it didn't matter what you used. She also didn't announce that we actually escaped until I asked. Again, zero satisfaction. If they were truly watching us, then they would've known that we were struggling for over 20 mins on this last lock that used a mechanism that they KNEW can fail sometimes. When we asked for our last clue to help us out, it told us what we were already doing. Not helpful at all. The game master watched us struggle with a bad lock until...
