Hong Kong House — Restaurant in Virginia Beach

I'm hoping they were just off today, but (barring the chicken wings) the food looked and tasted as if it were cooked in OLD oil. There was a distinct taste of grease that had been used too often/not changed. The wonton soup was lacking salt...a tad flavorless. But it was ok. It was really the beef lo mein and fried rice that were off-putting. The 2 chicken wings were good. 👍🏽 Clearly they were cooked differently than the rest of the meal. Even in the picture you can see how DARK the lo mein and fried rice are. 😒 It's disappointing, because I've been trying to find a good 'chinese food' restaurant close by. Guess my search might have to continue. But hoping that maybe it was an off day... I'll possibly try them out...

Today ordered hot sausage fried rice. It was ok sausage looked old n dry ??? Teriyaki chicken stik was bad. Old overcooked chicken on a stick not frshly made .. n very little Teriyaki sauce flavor. ORDERED CHICKEN WINGS , RICE N CAN DRINK $12. TASTY...

This is the best Chinese food I have ever had. We have lived in several places, and of course, try the Chinese food when we're in other cities, but nothing is as good as Hong Kong House. We've been eating at Hong Kong House for over 25 years, and the food is consistently delicious. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Our favorites are shrimp egg foo yung, General Tso's and sesame chicken, chicken lo mein, House pancit, shrimp with lobster sauce, and their shrimp rolls. Their shrimp and vegetable fried rices are amazing. The prices are very reasonable. ...
