Reginella's is located in the Loehmann's Plaza Shopping Center along Virginia Beach Blvd. Once you come into the shopping center, the place is very easy to find with the green and red lettering on the name for the place. There was ample parking available here when I visited as well. My visit here was on November 21, 2020.
When we came inside, they had hand sanitizer available as you entered by the host stand. There are signs as you come in as well that if you have any symptoms of Covid-19 or exposure to it that you would not be allowed to enter as well. Signs were visible in spots reminding to social distance, etc. Tables in use were also spaced at least 6 feet apart. Staff were wearing masks at all times during this visit as well. Tables and chairs were being sanitized after tables were cleared off.
At the time we were there, it wasn't too busy at the time, so we were immediately seated. There was one table that was pretty big, so it took a few moments for our server to come to the table, but totally understood. Our server Bridget did come to the table and greeted herself and asked us if we wanted something to drink. After getting our drinks, she asked if we were ready to order and we were. We had looked at the menu before coming in, so we knew we were going with the 18 inch White Pizza with sweet peppers, bacon (one half) and pepperoni (other half) for the pizza. She also asked us if we wanted some bread and butter, and we did. We also got the Pinzimonico (Neopolitan Olive Oil Dip) with it too. It was worth the extra $1 to have that as well.
About 10 minutes later, the pizza came to the table. As we got to start the pizza, the pizza was a regular pizza instead of the white pizza that we ordered. Everything else was correct about the order. When our server came back over, we let her know and she went back to have the correct one made and took the original pizza back. An 18 inch pizza is big. After she came back confirmed that the new one was being made, she brought the other pizza out boxed up because she didn't want to see that large of a pizza go to waste. That was awesome. A few minutes later, the correct pizza came out to the table, and the pizza was really good overall. Some of this pizza would also come home as well. At home over the following few days, I would have some of the white pizza and my mom had some of the one with the marinara sauce (my body can't stomach marinara sauce sometimes, so that's why I avoid it in general).
Overall, the food and service were really good here. I really liked the white pizza and would definitely look to do it again. I still like to try other items too, so next time it could be a Stromboli or Calzone for example. Even with that pizza issue, it was handled well and fixed to what it should have been. If you are looking for a good local Italian place to eat at, this place is worth checking out. I will definitely...
Read moreFor a few years of my childhood, my family lived in Italy because my dad got a job there. We lived in a little town built on the side of a hill, and the town ran right up to the water; it was beautiful! And the entire time we lived there, anytime we wanted to get pizza, we got it from a little shop called Roby's Pizza. Roby was a kindly man who loved to chat, tell jokes, and share stories the whole time he was making your pizza. And such pizza! It was the best pizza we had ever had! It was divine, and to this day when my family has good pizza we say "this is really good... but it isn't quite as good as Roby's pizza."
Our last day before we moved away, we got pizza one last time from Roby and asked him where he learned to make pizza, because we just had to know where on earth taught people to make pizza this delicious. We were certain he had learned his pizza secrets in Rome, or some secret pizza school in Naples, or even in some tiny monastery in the Apennines; but we were wrong. Roby had gone to culinary school in New York, New York, United States. The real secret, he told us, is using fresh ingredients. You keep things simple and fresh, and you let your work speak for itself.
After all this time, I am pleased to report that I have finally had pizza that made me say "oh my gosh, this actually might be as good as Roby's!" And that pizza was here at Reginella's: specifically the location on Virginia Beach Blvd.
The staff were very friendly. Our waiter, Tom, was really fun and had really great rapport with both the kids and adults in our party. He was attentive and timely, and made everyone feel comfortable and welcome. The food was delicious, and the prices were good too! One of my kids had a kid's pizza, and it was an actual hand tossed pizza, not some little microwaved nonsense like some places have. The rest of us split a meat lover's pizza and, as I said above, it was hands down the best pizza I've had in more than 20 years!
They're in a good location, have lots of seating, and even a patio. The vibe was really chill, but not ritzy, so it's a good fit for families or a fun date night spot. Will...
Read moreIm only giving it 2 stars because the food wasn’t bad, it was the service that was bad. It definitely wasn’t my first time eating here but it was my first time dining in. I was really excited about eating here! You can smell the food from outside. My boyfriend and I walk in and the host doesn’t even greet us. He just walks up to us and says, “just 2?” Doesn’t even ask if we want a booth or table. He grabs 2 menus and tells us to “come.” He sits us right by the kitchen at a table when there was a booth open right across from us. The waitress comes to take our order and I thought it would be fine from there but definitely not. So since we were sitting right by the kitchen, there was an awkward wall right behind my boyfriend’s chair, that separates the dining area from the kitchen. All the waitresses would literally squeeze behind my boyfriend to get to the kitchen when all they had to do was go through the other entrance. It was so unprofessional. Then the waitress brings out my food and as soon as I get my spoon out to start eating, she walks up and takes it away without say a word. She brings my boyfriend’s food out, still not communicating why she took the plate away, then brung out another plate for me saying “sorry the other plate was the wrong food.” Then they bustboy comes to clean the table next to us. That’s usually not a problem but they have this cart with about 4 tables worth of dirty plates on it that they push around the dining area. So disgusting. At that point, we’re fed up and ask for some to go boxes and the check. It took about 15 min to get it. I’ll never dine in there again. Good food for...
