BobaPop Tea is a Taiwanese bubble tea chain. They have Milk Teas, Milk Foam Teas, Fresh Teas, Special Teas, and Slushes. Each drink is made to order - you can select the size and toppings and customize the sugar and ice level to your liking.
After lunch in Old Town Alexandria, we drove about 20 minutes to check out BobaPop Tea in Franconia. This location opened about 2 months ago. This bubble tea spot had instagrammable walls including "BobaPop Franconia where my heart is at", "I'm not weird, I'm limited edition", and "Can't buy me love but you can buy me more boba".
Kenny T. greeted us and took our order. I decided to try something new for a change. I enjoyed the Matchaberry Tea with Paw Print Milk Foam and Strawberry Jelly at 30% and 50% ice. My boyfriend wasn't sure which milk tea went well with Coffee Jelly. Kenny recommended it with Chocolate, Taro, or Winter Melon. My boyfriend enjoyed the Taro Milk Tea with Coffee Jelly at 30% sugar...
Read moreMay be our new favorite boba tea place. My husband got the mint chocolate milk tea and added the mini marshmallows. He is obsessed. The mint-to-chocolate ratio was perfect and the marshmallows added a great texture and flavor. I got the standard taro milk tea, and true to their description, I'd never had a taro so good. I also experimented with the grapefruit black tea. The tea flavor was so refreshing. I added the coconut milk foam, and it was the perfect compliment. We got the mint-chocolate and taro at 70% sugar, and the grapefruit at 100% (I'll be cutting this to 70% as well next time).
You can personalize a ton of toppings or add ons, ice level, and sugar level.
The boba also has a great texture and flavor. Not too hard or soft, and the honey boba is actually sweet. I can't wait to try more...

I check every month I go to see if their times have changed because the open sign is lit. For those of us who like to drink their tea and coffee in the AM it would help to open earlier.
When I have had drinks there they were better than OK, I’d grade them a B- to B, definitely better than Kung Fu, but not as good as TeaDM-Eden Center. I would go more often if they were open earlier. I prefer boba teas, where I can control the sweetness and ice level, over Starbucks or other ice coffees. I usually order more than one without ice then freeze them...
