To quote Iron Man, "Have you ever tried shawarma?"
After shopping at a nearby pet store, we stopped by Shawarma Guys for some lunch which had very promising reviews. I opted for a chicken shawarma rice bowl ($8.95) and added couscous, hummus, sumac onions, chickpeas, parsley, and tomatoes as toppings. I then added some garlic and yogurt and cucumber as sauces. I like that you can add as many toppings and sauces as you'd like. By the time I was done ordering, my bowl was a heaping mound of food.
I really enjoyed my bowl. Everything tasted fresh and very filling. I couldn't even finish my bowl in one sitting. I highly recommend getting the garlic sauce. It looks light and fluffy but it's packed with delicious flavor and really enhances your food.
They also serve other entrees like falafel pita pocket sandwiches, shawarma pita pocket sandwiches, falafel rice bowls, falafel and shawarma salads, as well as appetizers like tabouleh, baba ghannoush, and fettoush. I also ordered a mango lassi drink ($2.85), which was pretty good.
I also want to highlight their service. We were helped by a friendly and bubbly staff member, who provided recommendations for the toppings and had a very upbeat personality. It really tied the whole experience together - good food and good service!
I definitely will be coming back here again. If you like shawarma, try...
Read moreMy favorite shawarma place by far. I have probably eaten here 35 times or so. The food has been excellent and I have enjoyed it every time Every one has been wearing a mask that works there and the place is clean, it is small but I always get my food to go. The owner is so polite and nice and always gives me a free falafel while I am waiting, he is very friendly and I enjoy talking to him. The food is sooooo good. I love love the chicken bowl, the saffron rice is so tender and tasty (probably the best I have ever had) and the chicken is so moist and tender. I don’t eat lamb but my friend had it and said it was also really good. I love all the toppings, they are fresh and every one I have tried is delicious. He also makes his own pita and pita chips which are also so good. The homemade hummus is awesome, he tops it w olive oil and chick peas, it’s better than any store bought hummus that’s for sure. I get falafel every time, the yogurt dill sauce is the perfect pairing with it. You just really can’t go wrong with anything he makes. My son, who is so picky and never tries anything new, tried it recently when I brought him some without asking and he loved it. He already asked when I can get it again, that’s saying a lot. Lol. All in all, a great place with excellent food and...
Read moreEverything was fantastic. I got the rice dish and my husband got the sandwich, with a side order of batata harra. The shawarma was fresh, tender, and moist (we got 1/2 chicken and 1/2 beef, they were both so delicious we can’t say which we prefer). The rice was perfectly cooked. The falafel was just the right crispiness on the outside and moistness on the inside. The veggies were fresh and delicious. The onions were done just right. The garlic sauce was the perfect balance of creamy and zingy, and is a total game changer. If you’re not sure if you’ll like it you can order it on the side, but you are going to want more. The falafel is cooked in small batches so it is always fresh. The potatoes are cooked to order every time. After they make your sandwich they put it on a sandwich press/panini thing to crisp and heat the bread to toasty perfection. Hamoud is so friendly and kind, and he puts real love and care into every dish. The kitchen and prep area are visible from the main space, and everything is clean, tidy, and organized, as is the dining area and even the bathrooms. It’s about an hour away from where we live but it is worth the drive and we’ve started to make this a weekly excursion. Give this place a try, you...
