Bubba's Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Virginia

This place is really close to home so I have visited a handful of times. I thought it would be a nice friendly neighborhood bar that I could make a habit of. But, I get the same lukewarm reception from the wait staff EVERY time I go. I feel invisible. It seems to me like they love their regulars but don't care about growing new business.( Last night I had every one behind the bar (every female bar tender)see me standing there, look me in the eye, and keep on going. Both when I tried to order and when trying to leave. Didn't acknowledge me at all. The male bartender was much more receptive. He had no problem talking to or waiting on me. ) They do not seem friendly in the least and only seem to FINALLY wait on me when they have to. If I sit at a table, my table never gets the service that the ones around me do. They walked right by me last night and didn't even look or ask. I did finally get an ashtray, however. I tip at least 1.00 per drink. I say please and thank you. I smile. I don't get it. I guess you're "in" if you are a man or a regular. Sux to be you if you're neither one. I used to bar tend, so I know how its SUPPOSED to be. Although Bubbas is literally 2 minutes from my house, I will drive right by to go someplace else and only stop in here if no place else is open or...

Went there for the very first time on Saturday night because of a Karaoke competition....I have not been out in a while so i decided to go for it.....alone....and as predicted, it was a "win by audience vote" which of course means the more folks u BRING the better ur chances are of winning....which makes total sense because it's good for the business and their sales akd the $250 u wanna win. There was a $5 cover and a $10 fee for contestants, which was good for the owner because he didn't have to really come out of pocket for the prize.......The competition was amazing. Everyone did an amazing job, everyone was super friendly, and even tho i was alone, i had support from ppl i didn't even know. Maybe if they have a panel judging, I'll go back, but overall, a nice...

Hope you like cigarette smoke. It's thick in here. However, the staff is friendly and mostly attentive and the pool tables are in good shape. The bar itself is in significant disrepair but has potential if they'd just fix a few things like ceiling tiles, finish paint and clean the restrooms, put paper in dispensers ...simple stuff you don't have to hire contractors for. This place isn't for me but it's not the worst I've seen or been to. We were there in the afternoon and dealing with 1 very obnoxious drunk being extremely disrespectful (making lude gestures) to a female in our group. Can't speak to the evening atmosphere but the vibe started changing around 4pm. I can only guess how rough this place...
