No one has a better doughnut. These are awesome. I come as often as I can, nothing else is as scrummy {scrumptious and yummy} as Country Style.
To those with complaints about Donuts in the open or that they ran out.... Guess what... They are popular! Why be surprised if they run out? Duh. And as for being out on the shelf.... Um, where else would they be? They are busy every time I go there. Sometimes they run out of the most popular ones. Get over it. This is a small business of great popularity, get there early, they aren't frozen and thawed or on a conveyor belt. They are made by hand. Like your grandmother or great grandmother would do it. They are fresh. Never a disappointment, unless I got there too late for my favorite.
As for service, the building is small, there are a lot of people in and out with 3 and sometimes 4 people running back and forth behind the counter and taking payment and dealing with customers (who sometimes act like self-centered morons with a chip on their shoulder). Sorry if you feel slighted or offended because they didn't perform a welcome that you seem to expect. They are BUSY! GIVE THEM A BREAK! Have you, in your self importance, ever had to work with people like you? Even if you're nice to them and they don't respond, don't take it personally, you don't know if someone before you behaved like an idiot.
I love this place. ...
Read moreOk, so I've always wanted 2 try this place and finally did today. And I'm pretty heartbroken. The product is outstanding but the business is horrible. I'll detail. While the prices and quality of the doughnuts is outstanding, what wasn't at all was the service and atmosphere. No one in this establishment is friendly. Not the owners there, nor any of the customers walking in. Everyone in the Sandston establishment was silent. NOBODY greeted anybody from the time my husband and I walked in until we left. And we ate there. We watched in silence and horror as everyone that walked in was not only not greeted ,but absolutely silent the entire time. Seriously, McDonald's has better customer service. The customers at this establishment r rude as well. When we first went in, my husband held the door open for a gentleman exiting with a box of doughnuts. He said absolutely nothing. I was floored. And that is the vibe of this entire place. And what is the saddest part, is my husband and I love country music. And they had the best country music playing. And while we would have loved to sit and enjoy it more, and slowly sip our coffee and eat our doughnuts, we did not feel wanted, welcomed, or respected. I will not be recommending this establishment to anyone, again, not because the product is horrible. Because the business is...
Read moreAfter riding to taco bell with my friend, she was like "wow. I hope the donut shop is open". . i'm like at 1am?! We went to this location around 1am on a Saturday night and when we got there, no one was there.
We walked in and I was amazed. A donut shop really open. . for 24 hours lol ! There's just something I get excited about a mom and pop donut spot. I was amazed. There were so much to choose from and different sizes! The guy that helped us was nice. My friends that were with me from out of town, took a while to figure out what we wanted and the guy that helped us, was very patient. My friend that actually stayed in Richmond knew exactly what she wanted.
My friend ordered a half a dozen & out of those 6, I was able to choose one. After trying to figure out if I wanted Peanut vs Chocolate with Buttercream, I .. I choose the chocolate with buttercream. WHO CAN PASS UP BUTTER CREAM ANYTHING?
The donut was really soft and the buttercream was really good. If in the area again, I will def come back to this location. . at any time of the night and next time I want an apple fritter.
My friend said if anyone says these aren't the best in Richmond, she will...
