Chicken Salad Chick — Restaurant in Virginia

2022-07-13 this was my first visit ever to a Chicken Salad Chick. I had never even heard of them until the previous evening when I watched a food review by The Endorsement on YouTube and his score was high. I decided to give them a try. I decided to have the Fancy Nancy sandwich on croissant with a scoop of Cranberry Kelly on the side. I also got the Fully Loaded Potato Soup and a piece of Devine Chocolate Cake. My wife got the Fancy Nancy on wheat bread, not toasted with a scoop of fruity fran and a bowl of Broccoli Cheese Soup. The place is extremely clean and brand new and everyone there was very friendly. It was decorated a little frilly and I will speak of that later. 😁 Here Is my review.

The Chick Fancy Nancy Sandwich Croissant Is a Would Recommend Plus. I loved the apples and grapes in the chicken salad. The croissant was excellent and soft. I got mine with the lettuce and tomato but next time I'm going to skip those. I think it would be better with just the chicken salad. Also next time I'm going to get the toasted wheat bread. I tasted my wife sandwich and I love the bread but felt it would be better toasted. The Cranberry Kelli Scoop Is a Would Recommend. I thought this would be my favorite flavor, but I really enjoyed the Fancy Nancy a little bit better. And now we get to the loaded potato soup. It was delicious! I give it a Would Recommend Plus. And at the end I got a piece of the divine chocolate cake. I give it a Go Out And Get It Now! It is very, very rich and the chocolate flavors with the small chocolate chips are amazing. It was $2.99 and I anticipated a standard okay piece of cake for that price. Instead it felt like I had received a piece of cake from a high-end restaurant and it should cost $10. I gave my wife a piece of the cake and she ended up getting two pieces to go because they were so unbelievably good. I also was able to taste My wife's scoop of fruity. Fran and I give it a Would Recommend.

And now for the mention above about how it's decorated frilly. I went to the bathroom to wash my hands and there are pictures on the wall. Each one of them says something really cute. I had my wife go in the "Chicks" room and get pictures of the different photos on her wall. I have included these in my review pictures but this was my favorite in the "Chick Magnets" room.

"Gentlemen..... the porcelain pigs, rusty pails and washboard decor at your barbeque joints don't threaten our femininity. So we don't think it is too much to ask of you to say the stupid names and sit in few flowers for an hour. Thank you for understanding. It means a lot to us."

I thought this was fantastic and rounded out my excellent experience here at this eatery. I will be returning and stopping at other chicken salad chick locations! And I agree it was no problem saying the names and sitting in the frilly restaurant!

I regularly visit for the grape salad, cookies, and a pickle, and I've consistently experienced good service at the register. I frequent this location 2-3 times a week, both through the drive-thru and in-store. Lately, I've noticed that the grape salad has been less saucy, so I started requesting extra sauce, which was always accommodated until today.

When I asked for extra sauce today, the cashier relayed the request to the kitchen. However, I was told that the sauce couldn't be added because it was premade. When I asked the cashier to check with the manager, Tamisha, she initially avoided the request by stepping back behind the person in the kitchen so I wouldn’t no longer see her and then cited “ I have to do finance stuff in the office” as a reason for not assisting. This was particularly disappointing since I had received extra sauce from her just last week.

As an Executive Director, I understand the importance of providing exceptional service, regardless of the circumstances. If Tamisha's behavior is indicative of the level of service expected at this establishment, it falls significantly short of the standards I value. Providing good customer service requires a commitment to going the extra mile, and I expect that as a customer.

It is disheartening to see such a lack of professionalism and kindness. If Tamisha is dissatisfied with her job or compensation, I would encourage her to seek opportunities that align better with her expectations. My experience today was notably negative, and I hope it serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining high standards in customer service. Once again, the young lady at the front counter provided exceptional customer service, I apologize for not cathing her name.

I have only been to this place twice because I don’t live close by but I had to leave a review after my second visit (which was over a year after my first). This establishment has some of the nicest employees and cleanest facilities you will ever see in a fast casual restaurant (based on both my visits). I ordered a pick up order online this time, right when they opened, and it said it would be ready in 11 minutes. I got there in 4 minutes, was immediately given a warm greeting and already saw my order coming together. The person who greeted me took another customer while I waited for the rest of my order and I saw everything go up on the counter and was happy to wait while she finished up with them.

Another worker happened to look up, saw me waiting, glanced over at the window and realized that was my food. She stopped what she was doing, WASHED HER HANDS, and then bagged up my food and handed it to me, right as her coworker finished up with the other customer and turned her attention back to me to let me know it was coming right out.

This might not seem like a big deal, but I’ve worked retail and food service for many years and this kind of service just doesn’t happen a lot anymore. I don’t complain when it doesn’t but man, I applaud it when it does.
