Gus' Italian Cafe — Restaurant in Virginia

DOESN’T EVEN LOOK ITALIAN!

The place when you come in doesn’t even look like and Italian restaurant. The place has a dark environment, and the air conditioner is right above me where I’m sitting which makes the experience worst. The staff is nice and attentive to your needs but they took a little too long on taking our order even thought the restaurant is really empty. Our food took a good 20 to 30 minutes come out so it was kind of a long wait, not to mention the extra garlic bread I ordered and took like another 15 to 20 minutes to come out. We are talking about BREAD. Maybe it is because we were really hungry. The food was mediocre. The garlic bread looks like just store bought bread with some butter and garlic. I ordered some meatballs from the PASTA section of the menu, and it said it was meatballs with marinara. Anyone would expect pasta coming with the meatballs, but guess what, they just served me some meatballs with marinara sauce and two small pieces of garlic bread. I can’t just eat meatballs with sauce. The food tasted like box dinner meatballs. There was almost no Italian food options and the taste was more American. Overall experience and food experience was really bad, I left really unsatisfied and unhappy about the money wasted. DO NOT EAT HERE THERE IS WAY BETTER ITALIAN...

I have been dining here for four years and most of the time I come alone, by choice. I have never had a problem being seated solo even on busy days. However, today, the youngish blonde hostess with the glasses, decided that I needed to wait despite there being a table open. I didn’t think anything of it so I waited for a table to open, which took about 18 minutes. Another couple came in after me and she proceeded to seat them without even acknowledge that I had been waiting for almost 20 minutes. I left out and called to speak to a manager. The same hostess answered and would not transfer me and tried to excuse her behavior saying that I was only one person. This is very disheartening given I was 1 of 2 people of color in the entire restaurant. I’m not saying race was a factor, but it is to be noted, the couple that was promptly seated was not of color. We went to Gus's for the first time because brother praised it, then we get there order are food double check with Cole to make sure he has order correct because every server thinks they can remember everything, takes almost 30 minutes to get food,once it comes 1 of the pizza's was wrong,tell Cole and he goes to have another one made and it takes almost another 30 minutes and everyone else is done eating. After waiting so long and everyone else done ask if if the one pizza will be on the house, Cole said it's not there policy to take care of costumers when Gus's does something wrong.then we asked to talk to his father and he was even worse then his son. He came out and he was a bigger prick then Cole, said why should he pick up the tab on the pizza even though it was there mistake, so after all this this he took the over pizza back and didn't charge for it as long as it wasn't ate!!!!!!! AT THIS POINT YOU COULDN'T PAY ME TO EAT THERE...
