Stopped at the drive-thru at the Euclid Ave. Hardee's in Bristol, VA on the afternoon of Tuesday 6/24 (where we set new record high temperatures locally all week).
When I ordered a milkshake with my burger, the associate told me the freezer was not working and I saw that a portable frozen trailer was being used at the back of the store, and she said that unfortunately they could not make shakes. I said that was OK, and jokingly said, "I hope your air conditioning is working!" To which she replied, "Unfortunately, no it isn't! It hasn't worked for weeks!" I joked that I should drive over to McDonald's and buy her and the whole crew shakes, but that their milkshake machine hasn't worked since the 70s!
I drove to the window to get my Frisco Burger, and the associate (Jess) could not have been nicer, more cheerful and pleasant, and professional, all while working inside a restaurant that had to have been 100 degrees inside. (It was 96 outside in the shade).
Having worked in the service industry my whole life, and understanding the nature of good customer service, and the almost total lack of it these days, I was so impressed with Jess and her attitude in spite of an awful work environment. I have a friend who works for the Sheriff's Dept. in Bristol, and they had to relocate inmates from the jail because it was too hot for them this week.
And Jess was working in conditions that a prisoner could not legally or humanely be exposed to, and doing it with a smile and good cheer.
I don't know what her hourly wage is, but it needs to be doubled.
I haven't eaten at a Hardee's for years, and pulled in that day because it was on my way to my next job. But now, thanks to Jess, I will return to that Euclid Ave. store (close by to where I do a weekly radio show on Radio Bristol) because of her kindness and professionalism. (The Frisco Burger was good too!).
So Jess made me a returning customer. Please fix the A/C there, and please fix Jess with a wage increase. She's earned...

My family has often stopped at Hardee's before church on Sunday mornings, but will no longer be returning to this establishment. On Father’s Day, my grandparents went through the drive-thru while I was on the phone with them, and what I heard was incredibly upsetting.
While ordering, the employee taking their order was rude and dismissive. When my grandmother mentioned she had a coupon, this worsened. By the time they reached the window, my grandparents were genuinely unsettled and confused by this interaction.
At the window, the cashier looked at my grandfather and said, “Why are you doing that?” referring to his facial expression. He wasn’t doing anything but trying to understand why they were being treated so poorly. When he said they felt disrespected, she slammed the window shut, continuing the hostile behavior.
I called the store immediately to ask what happened, and instead of a professional response, I was met with two people claiming to be managers yelling at me over the phone. The disrespect continued, even worsened, after being made to feel unsafe myself. Then, the store called the police and claimed my grandparents had threatened them—an outrageous and false accusation.
This should have been a calm Father’s Day breakfast. Instead, my grandparents were left feeling disrespected and disgusted by this behavior. After years of being customers, they no longer feel comfortable returning to this location. I truly hope Hardee’s leadership takes this seriously—no one, especially seniors, deserve to be treated this way. I am deeply...
Read moreIf possible I would give no stars The district manager walked up to us 2mins after me and my husband got there and said this isn't a homeless hangout you need to leave which was very rude to assume we were homeless just because we come in and SPEND money on food and charge our phones while eating he proceeded to ask where we got the hardees cups we had purchased coffee in. So we left this man then proceeded to follow us across the street to the gas station to start trouble with my husband lied and said he was the owner he was driving a little red truck and demanded to know what money we had used to buy food with well I order in person and on the app so obviously we've paid for our food numerous times and never asked nor gotten anything free unless it was a reward for our stars from the app. I called police and spoke to them about this and was told we have a right to charge phones and be in the restaurant if we've purchased food not sure if he was having a bad day but there was 3 truely homeless people in there who never buy a thing and he never said anything to them but I feel it was racially motivated because my husband...
