Happy Star Chinese Restaurant In VA — Restaurant in Bristol

I have always loved happy star but with the new ownership, its definitely better quality food now. I would only suggest a few things for example: We did go in to eat, which was a first for me, I had always gotten it to go. The meal I got was the orange chicken and rice and I got some extra egg rolls (super yummy!).. but it didn't come with the yum yum sauce included like most other places and when I did purchase the extra sauce (I personally probably do use a lot) it was a little runny and not enough (again, personal opinion). The other thing I noticed, not directly related to me; when people were coming to pick up their orders, they were asking them their phone number or exactly what they ordered, instead of a name which would have made the process just a little bit easier. All in all, The place was very clean and the staff were very nice and accommodating. The person I was with got the sesame chicken and was very pleased. They are very skeptical when it comes to ordering chicken (anywhere) but they were very comfortable and said that the chicken was thoroughly cooked. I will most likely return to my normal house special lo mein but I highly recommend giving them a try if you've been deterred...

We ordered lunch takeout for four people online . . . General Tso's Chicken (L11), Sesame Chicken (L12), Vegetarian Fried Rice, Hot & Sour Soup, and egg rolls. The website was user-friendly, and our order was ready when promised.

I was especially thankful for the young lady who greeted me at the door and held it open for me to enter on my cane. That said a lot about her character, and it represented the restaurant well . . . very friendly service. The cashier was polite and friendly too. First impressions are important.

Everything was tasty and delicious, some of the best Chinese in the area. Our only critique was that the hot & sour soup was a wee too thick. The serving sizes were generous, the prices were reasonable, and the takeout was packaged well . . i.e. no spills on the way home.

Ordered 40 dollars worth of takeout 10 min ahead on the way from Blountville and it was nearly ready when we arrived. The food was fresh, and steaming hot and smelled mf delicious. Smashed an order of chicken teriyaki off the flip. And forgot to mention that the lady gave me a 20 oz coke, too. I didn't even ask for it and and wasnt asked to pay. Sweetest women, awesome cooking and planning. Obviously decent restaurateurs because apparently they are running one on either side of the state line. Came across a review suggestion for them so I had to tell it since they really did provide top notch service. And I"m positive that most anyone you ask would say the same. Respect ladies....
